We stayed at the Sunset Lagoon after arriving at another hotel to find that we had no A/C, and so many other problems that I could go on and on. Sunset Lagoon was our saving grace. We had the best time here. The rooms were clean with an amazing view of the lagoon and a jacuzzi on the balcony. Had great A/C unlike some other hotels-ha. We had a full kitchen if we decided to run down to the market and pick up something to cook or snack on. The resturants had great food and reasonably priced as well! We had a balloon fight in the pool which was a blast and met such great people here, guests and staff alike. The yacht club is right there as well which has some amazing boats. The only things I can really say anything about that I guess would be negative is that there were a few ants in the room if you left something sweet out, but expect that anywhere. The all-inclusive fee per day per person, I would rather not have. If it were anywhere else but Cancun, I could see the fee, but in Cancun where the majority of hotels include all-inclusive that probably would help to include in the price, especially in todays economy Overall...a fantastic memory in our travel book!.

We stayed at the Sunset Lagoon two years in a row. The place is beautiful and well run. It is quiet, yet has entertainment and games. The staff strives to make your visit pleasant. Food is great and plentiful.

It was apparent that the recession was starting to bring a decline in customers this winter as compared to 2008. One member of our group said she preferred the sister resort, Sunset Royal because it had more people staying there and more partying. But the majority of us liked the quiet of the Lagoon.

With this resort you can eat or swim at either resort and they have two free shuttles between the site. The shuttle boat is great to take during the day. Fast trip. The shuttle bus is slower but delivers you at the hotel safely.

Be adventurous and take the city bus to the store. The public bus drivers are nice and tell you when its time get off the bus (even if you aren't a Spanish speaker). There is a wonderful Mexican folk art museum not too far away at the entrance to the Lagoon. Be sure to see it.

We have been going to Sunset Lagoon since 2003. We did buy into the time share at that time. We took another couple with us this year and had a blast. It was slower than usual which is from the economy and since it was hurricane season we are thinking, but still I will be back next year. The food was an issue this time as they had cut back on the amount they presented but also they gave you discounts on restaurants you could go to. Pablo at the swim up bar was outstanding. He is so funny and played Barry White for my girlfriend and I one day. Sergo, in the Italian restaurant was great to see him again. All the staff is fantastic and the rooms have always been extremely clean. We went to the timeshare presentation and yes it was a little long but once we said no there was not a problem. Maybe we enjoy Sunset so much because we have gone every year and know some of the employees, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to relax and have a great vacation. It is nothing real fancy but very comfortable and not a lot of people , like at the Royal Sunset, its sister hotel. If any problem did come up, they were right there to make it correct. Go, have a a good time. I will be back next year for sure.

My fiancee' and i just returned from Sunset Lagoon. The one thing that I really didn't like was that there is no ocean/beach here. There is the lagoon and it is pretty to kayak on but it is not an ocean. You can go to the Sunset Hotel and they have a great big beach and ocean and the transport is free. The all-inclusive was just that. The breakfast buffet was the best. French toast and fresh omelettes awesome!!! The other buffets are good too but it could use a little more variety. Pablo at the bar is so kind and friendly and helpful. I miss him already! All the staff were very nice and very helpful. We went with RCI timeshare group and we had to go to the 90 min. presentation which was like 3 hours. But once we said no, they pretty much let it go. I was concerned they would treat us not so nicely after we didn't buy but NOT SO! They were great. The pool is very well kept and the grounds are as well. Very pretty place. I would definitely come back!!

Sunset Lagoon was amazing, the staff couldnt be nicer, everyone had a great time, although if you get the all-inclusive deal the food is the same each night, and you'll get a free lobster dinner, the food at the lobster dinner was great but the service was very slow. The rooms at sunset Lagoon are large and spacious, any view you can have is amazing. The snack bar is very convenient, and the view of the lagoon is breath-taking,plus if you ever get bored at sunset lagoon you can always go over to the Sunset Royal, which is amazing as well. The dinner shows were fun. My family actually avoided the time share presentation scams, just say no, they'll leave you alone but just make sure to get the free jungle tour info. The thing we didn't like to much is when you check in, you are sat down in a resturant and you sit there and sit there, thats when they'll give you any needed info.Sunset Lagoon is very family-oriented and comfortable. My Family really enjoyed the vacay, and sunset lagoon, just keep an eye out there are alligators in the lagoon.go out see the sights of cancun, enjoy. enjoy your trip:D
