I booked a 5 day all-inclusive stay at the Grand Oasis Cancun with some friends. Upon entering the hotel we were impressed at the layout of the lobby being a sort of jungle-themed with all the vines. It just happened that we arrived when a Mayan performance was happening in the lobby, pretty impressive show!
At check-in is where we got our only hiccup, the staff did not speak fluent English and did not provide correct information, nor did they seem to care either. While we were 3 people checking in, the check-in staff said we only get two of each type of drink in the fridge, which is ridiculous considering we paid for 3.
Other than that, the rooms we clean, the best were comfy, the hot water, however, was never consistent. But our rooms were cleaned everyday and fridge refilled, the restaurants at the resort itself were fantastic! My favourite being the Bahia, Cocoa, Akuru and Careyes! Least favorite had to be the Sarape, the Mexican restaurant. Not only was the food disappointing, the service was absolutely terrible, and also the only restaurant that limited you to one appetizer and one entree.
The resort was so big, you were able to select areas depending on your mood, if you wanted to party, there was an area with a DJ and a large crowd partying whether by the beach or in the pool. Anywhere else on the resort was quiet and good if you wanted to relax, I loved how I was able to lay on a padded chair on the beach and had a waitress bring me drinks.
I had the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and taught each other our languages, I learned mostly Spanish, along with some Hebrew and Portuguese! On our last night, we hosted a party in our suite and it was absolutely amazing!
My ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE place was the VIP Lounge, EDEL and JESUS were the most amazing bar tenders in the entire resort, I'd even go as far as being the best entertainers and their service was just first class! I'd go their every night for pre-drinking before hitting the clubs and they'd give me a good laugh every time! They are definitely hard workers and deserve every dollar they make! Other bar tenders and staff can definitely learn from Edel and Jesus! Love you guys from Canada!
