Nice service. Good food, not a lot of choices, but you do not have to worry where to go and what to eat.White sand, clear, warm water. The shows were boring. We just had to entairtain ourselves with puzzles, crosswords, sudoku, etc. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

This is a great resort-great location, nice service. It was like I was on a cruise ship-no need to leave the resort. The weather was perfect-rained during the night. I would highly recommend this resort to friends and family. Already making plans to go next year, and stay here. Please don't read into other negative reviews-I'm picky and this was a great stay.

We keep returning, bringing family and friends. For years and years. The staff are the best. The facilities are varied. The food is very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We love it.
Julio made a special call for my 4 year old Granddaughter to come help dig out hatching baby sea turtles. Once in a life time experience.

Room Tip: Villa is worth the expense.

Stayed at Barceló Tucancun hotel from 5/9/13 - 19/9/13, hotel was really nice although room furniture a bit dated, hotel staff were awesome, so friendly & welcoming, hotel setting on the beach is beautiful, white sand & clear waters, so much to do & see, food is ok, the hotel caters more so for the Mexicans/Spanish than the british tourists, the only downside was the weather, was quite windy & did rain for long lengths of time throughout the day more so than previous times for September, but the temp remained 30 degree's regardless, the evening entertainment runs for only 1 hour in the evening which was a let down as being all inclusive I expected more , the shows they put on are ok but if you want to Party then head to Cancun Zone, 5 mins on the bus for 8 peso's is the place to be, the place is buzzing, would definitely go back but entertainment would need to improve at the hotel, hope this review helps:)

Room Tip: book a see view room, although bit more expensive but beautiful view.

5 years ago I took my girlfriend to this hotel for our first holiday together. We were so impressed we chose it for our honeymoon in 2010. So naturally when it came to choices for this year's trip, the hotel was top of the list. What a mistake that turned out to be.

To say that the standard has dropped would be an understatement, and that's right across the board - service, cleanliness, food, entertainment, friendliness of staff. Rooms aren't cleaned until late evening (usually 5.30-6.00PM in our case), the pool was so full of chlorine that it turned clothes, hair and even skin green (according to the resort manager, this was down to the suncreams used by "you English", despite ours being bought in the shop downstairs), food was repetitive and poor, and bars were undermanned and queued out most evenings.

As Bob P says, the rooms at the back are very noisy because of the huge AC fans that whirr 24/7. When we checked in, we had to wait about 45 minutes for the room to be ready (despite not checking in until after 4 PM), and when we finally got in, the room was so filthy that my wife had to clean it. A task that would have been made easier had there been any hot water in the room, but unfortunately there was none. Now, I don't mean that the water coming out of the tap was cold, I mean there was no water at all! Wifi service was intermittent at best in the room, despite costing $13 a day - and that's per device, not per room. So if you and your partner both want to surf the net on your smartphones, tablets or laptops, be prepared to have to pay $13 per device for the privilege. Complaints about the wifi were met with "there's nothing wrong with it" or "we'll get an engineer to look at it" with no notification of the outcome.

It pains me to report this, but there was a distinct difference in how certain staff treated UK visitors compared to visitors from other central/south american countries. We frequently found ourselves overlooked or even ignored completely in the buffet restaurant, reception and at bars. This isn't directed at all staff, as there were some that went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, occasionally despite the efforts of their colleagues.

Back to the pool problems. Whatever chemicals they used to clean the pool were of such a strength that any white clothes were instantly dyed green. And not just clothes - blonde or light hair was coloured and my skin went so green my wife referred to me as the Hulk! We paid over 1100 pesos (about £55) to have our green clothes cleaned. After a number of visitors raised the issue with the rep, the hotel manager agreed to have any dyed clothes cleaned free of charge, but refused to honour our bill, and only agreed to clean a second batch of clothes free of charge after we challenged them on it.

These were just some of the issues we had with this hotel this time around. It really does pain me to report this as my wife and I have so many happy memories of our previous visits to Cancun and to this hotel in particular. While we'll definitely be back to Cancun some time in the near future, I very much doubt that we'll even consider this hotel for our stay next time around,

Room Tip: North Tower lagoon view rooms are noisy thanks to the AC units below the windows. Not all rooms hav...

We have just returned from this hotel as a party of 11 family and friends with mixed ages, The hotel has a fantastic beach front location and is within walking distance to the local shopping malls and just a short bus ride from Coco Bongos, Senor Frog and Hard Rock Cafe. The all inclusive is fantastic and is available from 7am - 3am, (the longest available on the hotel strip) there are 3 swimming pools but be advised that whilst there everybody and everything that was worn for swimming turned GREEN and the management advised it was the British sun cream!!!! Unless you look Mexican or speak Spanish the staff really are not interested in you and you get ignored. We travelled as party of 11 and none of the restaurants would let us dine together!!!!!!
We stayed in room 3010 which had a double balcony and fantastic sea views!!! not a very nice view if you are unlucky enough to get a lagoon view!!!
If your a fussy eater this hotel is NOT for you as they cater for the foreign market and NOt the British, and whatwver doesnt get eaten the day before is served for breakfast the following day, thank god there is a domino pizza a short walk away!!!
Minibar in the room is restocked with nuts, chocolate soft drinks and beer every day, and the more you tip the more you get, I spent all my holiday money on eating out and tipping staff, The entertainment is very pityful and not worth the effort!!

Will NOT return to this hotel

Room Tip: sea view rooms are best

I don't even know where to being...My husband and I had THE best time ever at the Barcelo. We stayed 7-nights (08/30 - 09/06). As we approached the front of the Barcelo and reached the top stair step we were in paradise, the view from that top step was just amazing, overlooking the crystal clear aqua blue beach water. as we proceeded to the front of the lobby we were greeted by a staff member with a "Bienvenidos" and a glass of champagne, which by the way hit the spot. Our room was on the 3d floor (Rm.3014) very very nice. Clean sheets and towels and a very comfy bed. It had a wrap around balcony with a view to die for, it was out of this world. no matter which way we looked, there was a view, of the beach of course. Room service came by everyday to clean and stock up our mini fridge with lots of goodies. The food was great. We had no need to leave to eat elsewhere. and the alcohol drinks where very well prepared (hint: if you want the best drinks, tip your bartender which by the way are very nice as well as the rest of the staff. My husband and I have been to Cancun off and on for the past 10-years, never to stay at the same hotel, but this is one that we both said, we will come back to next year. Thank you Barcelo for making our stay the most pleasant and relaxing one ever. :-)

Room Tip: Ask for room 3014. You wont be sorry.
