Just came back from the Barcelo Tucancun yesterday morning. Dont know where to start???? Went on holiday for 2 weeks with my friend. I had read a lot of reviews on tripadvisor regarding the hotel before we had left and was a bit concerned with some of the reviews. Went with an open mind as i know it is impossible to please everybody but sadly some of the reviews are correct. Biggest problem we had was with room 1020!! complete health and safety hazard!!!!! this room must be avoided at all cost especially if you have children!!! reported the fridge and aircon not working the second day we arrived. Handy man came out quickly and spent 10 minutes looking at the aircon and fridge. told me and my friend they were working fine!!! had to laugh at this, the room was in the high 30 with the aircon on at high all the time and the fridge was boiling hot!!! was really concerned that the fridge was about to go on fire as it was so hot! it was better leaving your cans outside of the fridge rather than putting them in the fridge as they stayed a little bit cooler, this is now joke by the way!!!! ice machine outside our room broke the whole 2 weeks we were there, was told to take the lift to the second floor and use their ice machine. found it almost impossible to sleep at night due to the heat in the room and we could not sleep all night with the front door wide open! asked how much to be moved and was not prepared to pay $455 after already paying for my holiday. my budget could not cover this as well! now the biggest problem with room 1020! the sink in the bathroom has fallen out and is being held up by steel wiring and cardboard, god help anybody if this collapses onto you and if this happens to a child this could be life threatening, this is why you must not stay in room 1020 if you have children!!! my friends bed was ripped as well and had broken plastic with nails sticking out of it at the end corner of his bed. this room needs urgent attention immediately before anybody is seriously injured. found it rather strange how the manager sent me an E Mail when i was waiting at the airport about to leave Cancun apologising about the aircon??? never mind the aircon mate ! get the bathroom sink repaired before someone is seriously injured!!! the maid kept the room nice and clean and changed the towels and bedding, gave her some good tips as she was doing her job well. now onto the food!! i have a profession award in Food And Hygiene so know what i am talking about! why would a hotel serve customers for their breakfast the remains of the previous nights dinner??? in particular chicken and seafood??? i am still in total shock about this, Another accident waiting to happen!! booked the Mexican restaurant more or less every night as the food was good! the mixed starter and t bones are good! do not go to the Spanish restaurant at all, foods disgusting alongside the 2 buffet restaurants. staff do try their hardest and i know it is only a 3 star hotel but basic Food And Hygiene must be used and followed at all times! this needs to be looked at immediately. Also witnessed a poor American women getting hot cheese nacho sauce being squirted all over her chest at the buffet restaurant down the stairs! she needed urgent medical attention and was glad to see the manager a chef and about 4 other staff members taking immediate action with the dangerous kitchen machinery. i do feel the staff try their hardest at the Barcelo Tucancun and know it is only a 3 star hotel! i only paid £869 for 2 weeks all inclusive as my budget could not go any further for a better hotel. Vito at the loby bar without a doubt the best member of staff in the whole hotel! what a nice guy, watch out for another staff member who i wont name at the adults only bar! he has been mentioned a few times already by other reviewers, he does not serve you until you tip him, he is the only member of staff in the hotel who does this. i do genuinely feel the staff try their hardest to keep guests happy but you have been warned stay away from room 1020!!!!!! i also hope the manager at the hotel reads this review asap so room 1020 can have urgent repairs carried out before someone is seriously injured!!

Great rooms (clean, good size, cleaned, new, modern), lovely pools. Clean. Good staff and reps. Great Food!

Cancun is a party environment so don't go there if that isn't what you want!

The first time we went to Cancun, we stayed at this hotel. It might not be the nicest one, but it is decent, their beach is beautiful, their food is ok, but their service was what really made us fall in love with this place. Everyone from the cleaning lady to the managers were outstanding, they made us feel at home, and made our first experience in Cancun unforgettable. I would definitely come back to this hotel next time I visit the piece of paradise that Cancun is.

Me and my girlfriends went there this week for our bachelorette party and even when we had a blast because Cancun is incredibly beautiful, the hotel and their crew almost ruin it. They were extremely rude to us from the very beginning, the service was super slow, they couldn't resolved anything or fixed anything, plus, their lack of courtesy was unbelievable.
We were told Barcelo at Riviera Maya was so cool and awesome, so we thought this one, at Cancun, was going to be the same thing... we were SO wrong. Not only is old, they have not updated their furniture, TVs, towels and so forth, the food is not what you expect when you go to an All inclusive 5 starts hotel. We wanted to speak with the manager, and ofcourse, he was not available, so, I wanted to take a fe minutes to write our experience here. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel not for a bunch of girls having fun, even less for honeymooners. Cancun is absolutely amazing, please go to another hotel and enjoy it!
