“Loved our stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We couldn't ask for nicer staff. The food in all the restaurants and buffet was simply amazing. The whole resort was exceptionally clean. We loved Jorge, our Beach Butler. We encountered such friendliness and helpfulness from all the staff. It made our stay wonderful. We especially liked the food at El Oriental and El Mirador. We highly recommend Grand Park Royal.

Room Tip: We had a junior villa overlooking the ocean and loved it.

Just returned from a 4 night vacation with my wife. It was the 1st time but will NOT be our last!
Simply fantastic. From the staff, to the rooms, to the food, to the beach, the pool , and to the cleanliness. All top notch.
And a special thank you to the restaurant mgr. Goes above and beyond making you feel
welcome!
A great retreat from the 6 ft of snow in Boston!!

We spent the last week of February 2015 at this resort as a group of 5 women travelling together for a getaway.

We made several requests by phone, email and when booking to have rooms close together as booked 3 rooms, 2 rooms with 2 people in each and 1 alone in a room. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the hotel later at night we found out that 2 double rooms were in one building; and the single room was in another building altogether. We were advised quite abruptly by David at the front desk that his boss assigns the rooms earlier in the day and that we had no choice but to sleep in these rooms assigned to us and talk to the front desk again in the morning. Our vacation was already off on the wrong foot. We spent the next day sorting the rooms out and moving to another building so that we all could be close to each other. We stayed in a suite in the ocean front tower beside the infinity pool which was nice. We then spent an hour in line making dinner reservations (twice), and another hour or so booking excursions.

For dinner reservations, you can only book 3 days in advance which puts you at a big disadvantage if you do go off-site for any excursions, and also makes you wait in a very long line several times during your vacation which is very inconvenient. There is not much choice in times for reservations; unless you want to eat your meal at 10PM, however, when you do go to the restaurants for meals it seemed that most of the tables were always empty?

The hotel itself is very clean and well kept. The food is good and plentiful. The staff overall are very kind and helpful. Olivia at the infinity pool is great and German at the Oriental restaurant was excellent. Also, the gentleman at the egg station in the morning works his butt off to get everyone’s omelets going in the morning. Wish I could remember his name.

The beach is beautiful, however it is federal property and therefore the hotel does not put many palapas nor sun beds at the beach. There were 15 palapas each with only 2 beds on either side of the beach for a resort that was in full swing. Not very many at all, you had to get up very early to “reserve” one. There was also not much in the way of shade near the pools either, I love the sun, but need some shade too.

This resort also does not have an open airy feel as other resorts did that I have been to. The reception is closed in and the main bar is in a dark closed in room. We spent the majority of our nights on the roof top bar, which again ran out of chairs very quickly if you did not get there early enough. There are no shows at night at the resort, but it is a short trip to the bar district if you want to go there. Bus ride is $1 each way.

For an all-inclusive vacation the gym costs $8 per visit, the spa could not accommodate more than 3 massages at a time (it is very small).

Our flight to go home was at 10PM, we asked if we could pay to keep our room past the regular check out time and the cost would have $50 per hour…. No thank you…

Overall this was not the place for us, it just seemed that it was lacking the little extras that make a resort special and everything was a hassle. We definitely did enjoy our vacation, but will not be returning to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Upgrade is worth the money.

This is my second time at the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe. I went August 2012 and again February 2015. This trip I went with 3 female friends to celebrate a birthday. Other than the problem of our room not being ready when we arrived, it was a great vacation. All the staff within the resort are friendly and make sure that all your needs are met. I have to give a big shout out to Gisell and Jovanna who took care of us pool/beach side. Jorge (Waiter) and Jose Luis (Head Waiter) at El Mirador restaurant. They provided superb service. Thank you thank you to Jorge who made me a special Surf/Turf dish for dinner. The other staff at the other restaurant also went over and above. The food is delicious and plenty of options are available (must keep an open mind). As previously mentioned having to wake up to make reservations for the restaurants is a pain but I learned that you can book all your reservations at once to avoid having to do it everyday. The staff pride themselves on keeping the resort clean.

Room Tip: I prefer rooms in the Villa with ocean view and room in the Tower (building near the El Mirador) hig...

This was our first trip to this resort. Everything was wonderful! The staff was attentative, and bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. The grounds, pool, and beach were clean and well maintained. They even had employees walking around discretely picking up cups and trash that residents had thrown down. If I had to make a negative comment, it would be split between the food and the bed. While the food was good and I didn't leave hungry by any means, it was semi-homemade type stuff. Not horrible, but I'm also a spoiled American. The bed was clean & all, but it was quite firm and it made my back hurt after a few days. But I most definitely got the R & R I was after. Wonderful resort, wonderful emplolyees, I plan on staying here again, and I would recommend it to our friends hands down.

Room Tip: Go with the Royal Tower. Its worth the extra.

Travel dates 2/20/15 -2/24/15. 3rd year at property. 9th time at a Park Royal in Cancun. Annual girls trip. Love the staff. Guadalupe (Lupita) who is the manager at the Oriental Restaurant was amazing! She assisted with the reservation process and was wonderful. Cant say enough good things about her. She is a gem and we look forward to seeing her again next year. Jose at the Lobby Bar and Victor at the Pool Bar were so much fun and awesome! Adan in the Royal Lounge was also great. The employees really make the trip more special. Although we were unable to have our adjoining rooms due to availability, Claudia at the front desk was helpful and very nice. The hotel is very clean. The employees work very hard to make your stay a great experience. The food and drinks are good.

First the pros. Good location, short walk to bars and night life and a little longer walk to the mall “La Isla”. Public bus cost aprox. 1 dollar per ticket. Taxi is a fix rate aprox. 9 dollars. The resort has three buildings, one of thirty years old (main building) and two others of aprox. 7 years old. Rooms in the main building are ok, with ocean view. We had three rooms booked but they ugrade us to a condo in the new building. New buildings have better rooms. Old building rooms are 4 stars (we asked to see them before accepting). New buildings are 5 stars. Food is ok. Good breakfast and three different restaurants, which you have to book, and the buffet. They have a top of the art gym which we had included in the rate but others have to pay 8 dollars per day. Excellent machines plus small number of other guests. The beach is excellent, 40 yards of beach and a nice ocean with waves. They have a big con that is the pool area. Two pools one in the old side and another newer in the new side. Problems comes when you go to the pools and there are not sun lounger available (we are not early birds). Usually there are extra seats available in not a good spot but here there weren’t any. We saw two guests in a big discussion because one was accusing the other of moving the towel to appropriate the lounger. Sun umbrellas have the same problem. The other con is that the floor close to the old pool is like raw stone so you have to use sandals. Same occur at the beach with the sun loungers and sun umbrellas. If they correct that detail, which is not minor, the place is very good. The staff is very friendly and they are always with a smile in their face which is nice to see.

Room Tip: New buildinds room are better than the old main building
