“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We were looking for an all inclusive vacation for under $1500 per person for one week airfare included. We looked at Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. We found a week at the Grand Park Royal for $1200 per person with non stop flights. We were a little leery of such a good price, but the reviews looked good.
I'm happy to report that we had a very nice vacation. The hotel is clean and well located. It is oceanfront, with every room ( except maybe some of the first floor rooms ) having an ocean view. My wife likes it cool and the air conditioner worked so well that we had to turn up the thermostat.
There is a very wide sand beach in front of the hotel. There are two sand volleyball courts, an area for soccer, and a turtle hatching area.
It takes about ten minutes to walk North up the street to a shopping and entertainment area. There are numerous buses and taxis available if you would rather not walk.
There is a main activity pool and an adult pool with swim up bar. We spent part of each day at the adult pool. There were plenty of loungers available and we never had to get up early to reserve one. There are about ten poolside sun beds that were always taken by 10 AM, but we were able to enjoy lounging and napping in one of them on several occasions.
Below the adult pool area was a quiet area of beach with about a dozen palapas and plenty of loungers. We enjoyed having a swim in the ocean and sunbathing in this area. On the way down to the beach we stopped at the bar at the adult pool to have our insulated cups filled with an ice cold beverage.
The food was good. I always found something good to eat at the buffet. I had the chance to sample some foods that were new to me such as the pumpkin soup with pepitas. Yummy. Make sure to try the lunch at La Concha near the activity pool. Very flavorful food. One of the highlights of my stay.
The service was very good, all the servers were doing their best to make sure that you were enjoying yourself.
The specialty restaurants were indeed special. Very attractive decor, good food selections and great service. (A similar experience near my hometown would cost over $150 per couple.) We enjoyed the Italian restaurant so much that we went twice.
In conclusion, we were happy with our decision to vacation at the Grand Park Royal. We enjoyed our week swimming, relaxing, and reading with plenty of good food and drinks.

Room Tip: Upper floors have the best view, but we were on the third floor and had a good view.

We arrived about 5 pm and check in was a nightmare. Being that this was our 12th time to Mexico we are well aware of the speed of check in and usually it isn't the quickest. However, this one was the worst. We needed to wait in line for a long time because of the workers continually changing, leaving etc. Anywhere we have gone, we always are greeted with a welcome drink - not so here...when I inquired about it after 1/2 hour, they mumbled something about it being dinner time. No worries, we went to the bar and were graciously served however. Finally it was our turn and they couldn't figure out our reservation for 2 connected rooms - there were 5 of us. We made the reservation 8 months in advance so I am quite sure they had plenty of time to figure that out. Much confusion ensued and we finally got the Royal Holiday representative involved and even then there was much conversation. Finally a manager came and figured it out. We finally got to the room and they were beautiful and spacious with a gorgeous ocean view.

The hotel itself is gorgeous and everything is very clean - the whole week I never saw any garbage laying around or dirty dishes or anything even a tiny bit run down or unclean. It is amazing to me how hard they all work.

We had a weird banging sound in one of our rooms and again it was somewhat of a nightmare - after a couple of nights we finally recorded the noise and they worked on trying to figure it out. Since they couldn't, after numerous calls and visits to the front desk, we were given a room to sleep in until the problem was solved. This was a major fiasco as well and it should have been an easy solution since the resort was less than 1/2 full. The next day, they came and put some kind of trap in the ceiling and alas no more noise...whew!

We ate at the buffet, the Italian and the Oriental restaurants. Once again the service was fabulous and the food on the buffet was hot and fresh. The Italian was just so so, but the Oriental was so so good - we ate there 3 times!! In all the restaurants they are so gracious. The breakfasts are amazing and loved that there was a coffee/ice cream shop also there. It was great to go get a coffee early with some yummy danishes, The ice cream was also great. This was new to us, because most resorts we have been at do not have ice cream or if they do , it is limited. The snack bar was also well stocked and run. We had burgers and they were amazing (and I know good beef since I grew up on a beef farm). Not sure what a different reviewer tasted, but it was great! The only weird thing there was that the chips were not homemade like at the Park Royal. I would think the Grand Park Royal would be a step up not down...The brick oven pizza place was also tasty. The pizzas were well prepared and cooked and they always had different varieties. This was also a difference from other resorts where the pizza is usually not very edible...

The resort is beautiful but if you have a hard time walking I wouldn't suggest staying here. All around stone pathways that are very uneven and I didn't see an elevator that was for guests.

We walked down to the Park Royal a couple of times and it is nice to be able to get a drink down there as well.

The bartenders are great and if you are into Tequila shots, make sure to ask for the chilled Tequila with the salted limes. They all have special drinks they prepare and are very friendly.

Overall we had a great time. We will definitely be going back again:)

Having stayed twice at this resort's smaller sister resort, Park Royal (about a mile away), we were excited to stay at a more luxurious place and looked forward to the food as the Park Royal's food was fabulous the two times we stayed there. Our room was fabulous, on the beach, with a great view! Staff was super great and helpful. Now, here comes the "but" part...the food and the presentation was nowhere near what the other was. And, since I have to use a walker, the resort is a nightmare for people similar to me. All of the outside areas for walking are rough stone set in cement. To get from the daily, main restaurant to the lobby area there is no elevator, just stairs. Also, there are no handrails to the only bathrooms for that restaurant and you have to go down approximately 7 or 8 steps. I'm sure those with strollers had a rough time getting around the outdoor areas, as well. We were also disappointed in the 3 specialty restaurants that require you to have reservations. The quality of food was not what you'd expect of a class restaurant. The service in all of the restaurants was excellent, though. The Oriental had the best ambiance of the three. For lunch one day I thought I'd just have a hamburger from the "jardin" area. I took one bite and couldn't eat it. It didn't taste like beef. A Hardee's burger would have been much better. If you're young, or young at heart and have good mobility, you will probably have no problem or complaints about the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe. It's absolutely gorgeous, spotlessly clean, great service, beautiful pools, fun activities, etc. I'll leave the food decision up to you, but take it from someone who knows "good" food...it isn't. You'd have to equate it with your average cafeteria. AND...if you're in wheelchair or have a walker, definitely avoid this resort!!

If you are on the first floor like we are there is no ocean view, unless you call the dots of blue through the trees. I will give other observations as the days progress but so far there has to be better options for the price.

Room Tip: Request a room higher up if you want a view.

We got back from the Park Royal Grand on December 9th. We had an amazing time, as did the entire group who had traveled there to attend a friend's wedding. Almost every staff member we encountered had a smile and a greeting for us. We were there back in March of 2011 and it was nice to see that most of the staff are still there.

The food is very good and the beach is just about the best there is. Red flags were up most of the week but you could still go in the ocean. Drinks were amazing .... they don't skimp on the alcohol. Their house red wine is very decent and much improved from the last time we were there.

This is a stunningly beautiful resort. The grounds are meticulously maintained as is the hotel itself.

One suggestion for management ..... your dress code for the buffet is discriminatory towards men. Why is it that a woman wearing a thong bikini and a see-through beach cover up is perfectly fine to enter the restaurant, whereas a man with a tank top is told to go put on a t-shirt. What's wrong with being able to see a man's shoulders? I do not understand the need for this at all.

There is nothing bad i can say about this resort. Normally with all inclusives the buffet section can get a bit tried, Not once did this happen. The food was fresh and delicious. You could eat all day if you wanted to, there is a pizza shack and burger place that opens at about 11.00am. The pizza was fantastic as was the burger.
Make sure you get dropped to the right lobby entrance as there is a few park royals on the strip.
We upgraded to the tower and as a result we had a fantastic room with a view that overlooked the sea and jacuzzi on the balcony. The room was very spacious with free Wifi and separate sitting room and bedrooms. It also had 2 showers, 2 WC and wash areas.
We dined one night in the Asian restaurant, the food and wine was really good. I would recommend a trip to this restaurant. One very minor issue is you have to book the restaurants and it can be busy. If you decide to go to one of the restaurants plan in advance and book it 2 or so days before hand.
Overall the trip was exactly what the body needed, relaxing and recharging. The staff saw to our every need and were very willing to assist with any issues.
Do not forget the roof top bar excellent for chillin out after dinner and for the odd Karaoke night. Excellent for a laugh.
As we were adults traveling, we were not too keen to have excessive number of screaming kids in the location. If there were children in the hotel there were not very visible. We lounged mainly by the infinity pool that has a pool bar. This seems to be an adults only pool. There were plenty of games at the main pool and I am sure a few kids. There were one or two children briefly at the infinity pool, they provided some smiles with their fun and games!
There are cabana type lounging areas around this pool and they go quickly. If you want one keep your towel from the previous day and when you wake up lay it out in one of the cabanas. You can change it later in the day. There was never any difficulty in getting a place beside the pool. Be careful of the pool cards and wristbands, they cost money to replace.
In all I felt very pampered and thoroughly relaxed after the trip. Thank you to all at Grand Park royal Carib for a fantastic vacation.

I spent Thanksgiving week at GPRCC and had a great time. It was my second stay there, the first being last March. I have nothing negative to say about any of the staff, and can't understand how anyone can say they were treated rudely, or how my experience could be so different. Check in was a breeze, and my smile and friendly attitude was greeted in kind. The same can be said for the bartenders, wait staff, and other workers.

The resort is kept very clean, and the beach is gorgeous. The entertainment team was almost completely different, with the exception of Dario and Kenya, from the spring, but felt like old friends in a matter of days. Joaquin, Jaime, Leonardo and Nalgia are excellent additions to the staff. The whole team does a great job, being on the go non-stop. One highlight was the release of baby turtles. The daily activities around the pool and early evening activities were a blast, whether watching or participating.

So why 4 and not 5 stars? Two things: not enough seats at the lobby bar, and no entertainment at night. I'd love for there to be a live band at least on Friday and Saturday nights.

I made a lot of new friends and can't wait to go back in the spring!
