“One of the best vacations we have had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We just got Back on Nov. 9th had the best week at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful if we needed anything and the hotel and grounds and rooms were immaculate.

The Oriental and Italian restaurants were very good as was the buffet and snack bars and the bars also.

There was always something going on at the pool and on the beach the staff there kept things hopping all day and also had some time of a show or activity in evenings if your not into the town disco clubbing scene it was perfect.

The people to thank for this mainly were Monique , Sexy Carlos what we referred to him as and Diego my main man lol ............ there were a few others Benjamin and Tony I believe and few more not sure of their names .................... THEY all made the day special with their friendliness and activity schedules. They made the day fun.

My second trip to Cancun my first at this Hotel would recommend it to anyone and we will be back on future trips.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on floors from the 4th and up so you can have a clear view of the beach and ocean...

We had a good experience from speedy check in to departure. Let me get the negative out of the way first. After the nice check in we were almost hijacked by the "hospitality desk". He was very insistent that we "learn about the resort". After 20 years of Mexico travel we know the timeshare drill but he took me by the arm and tried to direct me to a seat. I pleaded fatigue after a 16 hour travel day but when we would not agree to a breakfast meeting the man became rude and said it would be our fault when we did not know the resort details and if we asked questions later he would get in trouble for not doing "my job". There, the only bad event is now reviewed and forgotten.
Our room was in the Villa section directly on the beach. I mean only the width of a patio from sand! There were sea turtle nests a few yards from the patio. Beautiful and very quiet location. The room was attractive, clean and well appointed with a great multi directional shower. Mini fridge was restocked daily. The ac was good and there is a fan. Beds were fine. There was a communicating door to the next door room that allowed noise transfer from that family, but they were early to bed types so not a real annoyance.
The food was better than most all inclusives. We always found something good at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. The reservation restaurants were good, we went 2 times to the oriental and once to Italian. The Italian is very romantic with live music and lovely ambience.
Don't miss ice cream at Cafe Sole. We also took sandwiches ( mediocre ) for the flight home from Cafe Sole. Did not eat at snack bar or Seafood restaurant. Other guests said room service was good and timely.
The grounds are beautiful and very clean. The bali beds are cleaned and freshly made up every day. We had no problem securing one at 7am and there were always enough lounges on the beach and around the pool. Maybe because it was low season.
A bus stop is directly in front of the hotel for a 9 peso 15 minute trip into town if desired. They are frequent, modern and the driver accepts a dollar ( and gives change). Good location to walk to nearby mall or use bus.
The bartenders are fun and have excellent memories if you pass them an occasional dollar.
Once you order a premium liquor it will be in all your drinks- but you should request by name.
Finally, the activities staff, excellent. They are enthusiastic and will make every effort to get you in the games. Go ahead, it's fun. We are in med 60's and usually just watch but Monique, Carlos, Benjamin and 2 others I can't name convinced these old folks to join in. Fun from trivia,
cooking lessons, cocktail mixing, beach olympics, water aerobics, bingo and more. When you are tired of playing or laughing at those who do, move to the infinity pool where it is quieter and there is a swim up bar. Bring your own insulated beverage container and you will have more to drink and less styrofoam to deal with. They will fill it up.
In conclusion, we spent a great week wishing our friends and family could be there to help us enjoy this very nice resort. I hope you get a chance to do so.

Went on a family trip with the parents to this resort and I must say I was surprised at how different it was from other all inclusive that I have stayed at before. To start with the hotel facilities is large but not so big that u get lost or annoyed with lots of pointless walking. Food here is excellent no matter which restaurant you try ( I do recommend the sea food one during lunch time since it over looks the ocean) but all of them have their own unique vibe that just must be experienced. The rooms were extremely comfortable and had amazing view of the ocean (except for my poor friend on the ground floor with the palm trees but hey your in paradise right?)

However there was something else that made this trip even more unique than any i have been to before, and that was the entertainment staff. Now this trip was taken during an off season so there weren't a whole bunch of people just willing to jump in and meet people but thanks to the charismatic and upbeat personalities of Carlos, Benjamin, Monique and Diego of the entertainment staff, they actually got almost every one poolside to participate in some kind of activity. To boot the activities they chose weren't lame bead bracelet making or crafts. No in fact it varied from different sports, to beach Olympics to even cooking lessons ( I made home made salsa right on the spot). To go even further than that, the staff has a pick of different local clubs that they attend with the guest and it really makes you feel safe in a foreign country, but it also allowed something to occur that never has happened to me before. I actually became friends with the staff so now I have a memory that makes me smile every time I think of it and makes me want to return to the Grand Park Royal and see how much more fun it would be during a busy season.

Hi, I spent my honeymoon here by the end of October, 2012.

If you are Mexican and looking to be treated equally as the foreign tourists, this is the place to go.

The customer service, location and facilities of the hotel are excellent for a reasonably priced hotel. BUT please beware of the people at the "hospitality" desk, trying to book you for a breakfast and a "gift". Remember: there is no such thing as a free lunch.

That said...

We were checked in quickly upon arrival, and as I was carrying my marriage certificate copy with me, were granted an upgrade because we just got married. We got a nice suite with a jacuzzi, and we just loved the fact that were staying at the "Royal Tower", which has a private lounge that you can visit every evening for wine and canapes, and a beautiful sight. The tower is right next to the infinity pool, so that is also pretty cool.

They only have two pools, but who needs them when you are in Cancun. They are well kept and the personnel are always trying to keep everything clean and make you feel comfortable and welcome.

Food is just OK. What you would get in every other all inclusive, and if you stay less than 5 days, you will be fine. Restaurants for oriental food (El Oriental) and sea food (La Concha) are terrible. Stay away from them and you will be just fine with their Italian one, I think its called "El Mirador", but you have to reserve between noon and 3 everyday if you want to eat there. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet is served at another restaurant that is also just fine, its named Cocay.

Snacks are all inclusive typical food: hot-dogs, hamburgers, pizza. Drinks are available from 11am till 1am and they are strong and quality.

You have to be up early at 7 to get one of the Bali beds, but you can reserve it and go down to have breakfast, no problem.

The bus runs right outside the hotel, and costs 8.50 pesos - one way.

If you want to do some activities then you might want to try searching on your own, because everything is more expensive within the hotel.

Room Tip: Get an upper level room at Royal Tower if you are looking to spend a little extra. It is very well w...

I have stayed at several all inclusive hotels in Cancun and enjoy checking out different hotels. We chose this hotel for the location, reasonable price and it's rating. Upon arrival, we were checked in quickly. The elevator was not working that night as a result of a storm, so we hiked up 4 flights of stairs. Dislike. The rooms were nice, but nothing special. The property is not new but is well maintained. As I looked around, I wondered why the hotel was raised so highly. Then we began to meet the staff. They are great and provided exceptional service, going out of their way many times to please or assist you. A special shout out to Alberto at the front desk for arranging an appointment for a haircut - something I'm sure isn't in his job description in addition to him always being extremely helpful and friendly. Another shout out to Alberto at Cocay for the delightful array of shots he served us along with his great food service!!!

The hotel location is fabulous and the beach is amazing. The food is good, especially the Italian. Restaurant - make your reservations early! The bars serve good drinks. The down side is no bar service on the beach so you have to walk to the beach bar.

It's hotel and its staff is a jewel. You won't regret staying here!

The hotel is the perfect size. Great location not far from downtown and night life. The beds were not that comfortable. All hotels should have a temperpedic mattress for those of us with bad backs. Rooms and hotel in general was very clean. Activities at the pool were great. All activity staff were exceptional. Monique, Steve O, Carlos too name a few. The food for breakfast and lunch was good. Snacks by the pool were good. The buffet for dinner was poor and the oriental restaurant was awful. The italian restaurant was very good except the service. Very slow and not very friendly. I would return to this hotel.

We are members of this resort chain and this is our second stay here. All of our arrangements were made before the trip so, upon arrival, we expected to be handed our room key and told to have a nice time. However, They informed us of a $40 government tax fee, cash only, no credit card accepted that had to be paid before getting the room key. No big deal...we'll pay the text...except the following day we were informed while we were talking with one of the resort representative, and they insisted we paid in pesos with the amount of 250 (around $20). Again, we had paid in dollars...not pesos, 40$ just as the clerk asked. In other words, the front counter clerk working for the resort pocketed $40 from us and either put 250 pesos in the safe or fudged the numbers to cover her butt. We talked to two supervisors who claimed they believed us but wouldn't question the integrity of their employee. They said the clerk was one of their most trusted worker who's been with the company long time. However, they did acknowledge that we could've paid the initial 250 pesos with our credit card, which they didn't understand why we weren't told that. Something didn't add up.... Two problems: we were told the initial fee was $40...not 250 pesos and we were also told that no credit card was accepted. The supervisors still would not suspect any wrongdoing by their staff. The management actually defended the front counter clerk and gave us the impression that we are bunch of liars! Needless to say...we weren't pleased with management essentially not believing our story despite 3 witnesses for us against the one employee.
How distasteful was this encounter! Since they got you as resort members now, they treat you differently. They didn't even provided transportation for us from the airport. Cost us $60 to get a shuttle bus to the resort. In other words, we're regretful that we are a member of this resort.

I will state that the overall service, from the bartenders to the restaurant servers were professional and courteous. However, this should serve as a warning about the management and deception of certain staff members. Be wary if they ask for cash as payment...with no chance at a paper trail.

Room Tip: Members get an room on the beach. Non-members get a view of the beach...just farther back.
