I went to Cancun in October '09, and I booked this trip in May '09. Once I booked my trip, I started searching for things to do in Cancun and came across Aquaworld. I have more complaints with Aquaworld than praises. I'm not a spoiled/picky person, I just want to do the things that I'm told that I'm gonne get to do.
The Complaints; It started on Sunday. We had 3 excursions booked with Aquaworld. My wife and I went to Aquaworld on Sunday, we were staying about 3 blocks away so it wasn't far to walk there and make sure things were on go!! We looked at our reservations with an associate and he saw and went over the things we were doing. The excursions were set to go, We Thought!!
We arrive on Monday to do the Jungle Tour. We were told on Monday morning when we arrived that we could take the Jungle Tour but we could not snorkel!! Due to the weather. Not Aquaworld's fault. We said, "OK, we can snorkel tomorrow (Tuesday) at Isla Mujeres." They said yes, weather should be better to Snorkel at Isla Mujeres tomorrow (Tuesday). We took the Jungle Tour, it was fun, but we didn't get to snorkel.
On Tuesday we arrive thinking that we are getting ready to go to Isla Mujeres to do some snorkeling and shopping. When we get there, the little girl tells us that they do not go to Isla Mujeres on Tuesday. I lose my mind. I question the fact, as to why we were not informed of this on Sunday and Monday that Isla Mujeres didn't take place on Tuesday. They had known this for a month, and we had been there twice and no one told us about this situation. So we move the Isla Mujeres to Wednesday at this time, and have to cancel our dinner cruise. That made me mad as well, because I was looking forward to the dinner cruise. So we end up having to do a different excursion on Tuesday. We swam with the dolphins at Wet-n-Wild. It was a neat experience. Will never pay for that again, but it was neat to do for one time.
On Wednesday we go back to go to Isla Mujeres, we think!!! We get there, and we are told that the Port Master has closed all activities due to the weather. I know they can't help mother nature, but it all started on Sunday and Monday that we were not told about Isla Mujeres on Tuesday. We could have went to Isla Mujeres on Monday and not snorkeled, went on Jungle Tour on Tuesday and could have snorkeled and kept our dinner cruise for Wednesday. So all in all, we got to do 1/2 of 1 thing that we were looking forward too, and couldn't do the other two.
Praises: 1. The Jungle Tour was neat. We took our own Aquaray (Waverunner w/ boat motor on back), followed the tour guide and saw some neat things. 2. The staff was all nice that we spoke with, even when we had our troubles. 3. Normally, when you break up a package you have to pay full price for any other excursions you are taking. I was given a full refund for the Isla Mujeres w/ Snorkeling. So other than these 3 things, I wasn't very pleased w/ Aquaworld. I would might shop around for anther place to take my excursions!!!!!!!!
Like I say, I know people can't control the weather, but if we could have been notified of the situations, we could have rearranged some excursions on different days so that we could have done everything that we had been looking forward to doing for 5 months, but we wasn't so we didn't get to do the two things that we were really looking forward too. So, next time I make my to Cancun, I will definitely wait until I arrive and book my excursions that away. I will do that on any trip I take from now on. It was a learning lessons.
