Stayed at Dos Playas for 2 weeks and it was everything we expected for a 3 star hotel, although some people who had been to Cancun on previous hoildays and stayed in other hotels found it dissapointing, but hey you get what you pay for!

Overall most of the staff where nice and friendly, the hotel was clean and gardens well kept, the rooms were spacious and clean, the food was mostly basic only some nights I struggled to find something decent to eat.

Read before going that there were problems with security and personal belongings being stolen from rooms, but we never had that problem although we did make sure everything was locked away secure as you would do on any holiday.

Just wish we never listened to Karen when she said downtown wasn't safe, as it influenced us not going until week 2 and had spoken to our rep who assured us it was fine. Ventured downtown one night and had a brilliant night, compared to party zone. Cheaper and much more friendly and relaxed.

Only downside to dos playas is that the bar shuts at 11pm, also there was no indoor facility to sit as it was out of season, but sitting outside with beers from oxo was just as fun with the company we had met.

Your holiday is always what you make it.

We read all of the reviews here before we went to Cancun last year and thought we'd give it a chance anyway! On arriving into Cancun we passed all of these amazing hotels and were disappointed when the bus stopped at this one to drop us off. We got a room facing the tennis court which was tiny. They changed it for us without problems the next day to a bigger room.. The new room was facing the swimming pool at ground level. We didn't mind where they put us as we were hardly going to spend any time there anyway!

Food
Breakfast - the usual stuff....fruit, toast, eggs, fried bread, cereal and then the not so usual stuff...chicken with chocolate sauce, pork, beef in chilli sauce. Obviously last nights leftovers were reheated and sent out for us to eat. I couldn't even bear to eat here as there were flys swarming around the fruit. I complained to the waiter and he did take the fruit away but returned quickly having just ran it under water. On a brighter note the chef will make you a omelette infront of you so you know thats fresh.
Lunch - we didn't have lunch here once. We walked in gto the restaurant and had a look at what was on offer and then left again. It was the chicken from breakfast.
Dinner - we had dinner here one night out of two weeks and it was disgusting.
The restaurant staff are really nice though! Having paid for all inclusive we were disappointed and spent alot of money eating out.

Staff
Reception staff were rude, grumpy and clearly did not want you going near them for anything. Restaurant and bar staff nice and friendly. The housekeeper was lovely also. We tipped her everyday even when we didn't want our room serviced and she was grateful.

Room
The bathroom was very spacious with a good sized shower however the water only tricked out of the showerhead. The bed was huge and sheets were changed everyday. The bed was old and badly stained but was comfortable. There was a safety deposit box which we did use but a few people had things stolen from these...money, ipods, cameras etc.

Beach
I wasn't too impressed with this beach compared to other beaches in Cancun. It is small, there is loads of seaweed due to the boats that sit outside the hotel on a permanent basis. Other hotels have amazing beaches and we made use of them.

Pool
There is 2 small pools at this hotel and they are brilliant for cooling off! They were kept clean and there is often games played during the day.

Location
A short bus ride away from the shops and bars. The bus service is amazing and puts the bus service back home to shame! They come along every few minutes and even if you are not at the bus stop, they beep at you, if you want on stick your hand out. We rarely got taxis.

We loved Cancun...there is so much to do, so many places to see, eat, drink and shop so we are going back this year but not to this hotel. My advice is to spend the extra and stay in a different hotel...this hotel is not worth your hard earned money.

My friend and I were in Dos Playas for a fortnight and loved every minute!!!
The restaurant staff were brilliant - Miguel the manger is a star! We bought the closest OXXO store out of rose wine and he brought more in for us on his next shift. Although he was trying to contantly ply us with Tequila Boom Boom.
The entertainment staff - Karen and Freddy - were awesome and keep you right with where to go and what to see.
We went on the boat trip to Isla Mejures with Alex on the Neptuna and it was one of the best days - lots of rum punch and banter flowing. Alex has a soft spot for Scottish chicas.
The rooms were kept clean and also the hotel grounds.
We knew we were going 3 star and weren't disappointed. If you're looking for 5 star treatment then you'll have to pay the extra but Dos Playas was everthing we hoped for and we can't wait to go back again next year.
The only negative was on the last day the reception staff tried to charge lots of people for phone calls that they hadn't made but other than that they were always lovely and helpful.
All in all we had a fantastic time at Dos Playas and would highly recommend it to friends looking for a party holiday.

Me And 5 friends stayed at dos playas in september we had the best time ever!.. the only problem we has was that we found the reception staff rude at times and the food was not too good! breakfast was the best you could get and dinner and lunch was very basic with not much variety.
The entertainment staff karen and freddie are the best! karen who we loved could not have done enough for us..if you need advice ask karen she knows everything! she showed us the best places to go and was also very helpful when my friend was sick and took us to the doctors, showed us where the supermarkets are and showed us the best restuarants to go to.
The hotel is very quite and relaxed which is what i loved about it!.. the view of the sea is soo amazing
The nightlife is unreal! sooo amazing at the hotel they tell you which clubs are best to go to on the nights and also provide free transport to the club which is really good.
The restuarant staff where really nice too( well with an exception of a few) and offered a good service without tips!
The room was basic with 2 kingsize beds and the bathroom was really nice and we had no problems with the air conditioning. the rooms are cleaned everyday too.
The hotel grounds are well looked after and very clean
This hotel is ideal for young people going to have a good time with friends and enjoy the nightlife.
you basically get what you pay for i dont see why people complain if you want a luxury 5* hotel then go and pay the prices there!
