“The Royal treatment!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014

How wonderful a place!! Wifi, sports bar, children's events, pool side bar.. Yes please!!! 12 outta 10 this place was fantastic. Private grocery store and coffee bar. Excursion desk to quench all your adventure needs from novice to expert, The Royal Sands has it. You can hop on board the shuttle service and goto all the sister properties and never eat at the same place twice, unless you want to. Hands down The Royal Sands wins!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Royal Sands based off the reviews on this site and our budget. It. Was. Amazing!! The food, the drinks, the friendliness, the cleanliness, the wifi, all of it was great! I purposely looked at all the one star reviews for all the resorts I looked at to see what the "worst experience" was for people. And it would appear most of the reviews were people that must have had some completely random off experience or will always find something to complain about. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time the whole time I was there!! The only problem the whole trip was a child accidentally pooped in the pool...yes, that happened (nothing the resort could prevent obviously). So the pool was closed for an afternoon and evening while they cleaned the whole thing and we were back up and running the next day! Service was great!! Some complain you have to sign for everything, but it's mostly just meals...and the bill comes with $0 on it and gives you a line to leave a tip if you want...we just left cash at all meals. "Tips are included" with the package but tipping extra is not only nice but I felt very taken care of leaving a little extra ; ) Overall, I loved it and would not hesitate to book The Royal Sands again!!

Room Tip: We checked in on a Wednesday and there was no line and we were set to go in 10 min. Keep in mind it...

Just returned from 5 days at The Royal Sands (Aug. 1 - 5th) and had a most wonderful time. Check in was a bit slow and the other members of our party had to switch rooms on their 2nd day, but over all, the food was fantastic, the people were soo very friendly/hard working and the gym is state of the art!! Hope I can get to use the spa on my next visit. The grounds are kept very clean and there is a safe presence of security to set your mind at ease.

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean view. Not a bad spot in the hotel!!!

Staying at the Royal Sands Cancun was our first experience with an all inclusive resort style vacation. The stay exceeded all our expextations. The facility was impeccably clean, the food was high quality and the staff was top notch. I cannot say enough about the quality of the staff at the Royal Sands. Our concierge, Zeus, was gratious, attentive and helped us with all our tour bookings. The wait staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. I had better service at the Royal Sands than I have had at many top quality restaurants in the US. Our family would definitely stay at this facility again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: The hotel is designed for all the rooms to have a view of the pool and the beach.

Purchased a time share week off of a co-worker for 1 week in April, 2011. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo. Rooms were very spacious and clean, great amentites like full kitchen and living / dining area. At the time the resort was not all inclusive, so we purchased groceries and cooked in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch some days. No issues here. Food and drinks on property were good and staff were friendly and helpful. I would say that this resort caters to an older crowd (40s+) and our group of 4 were in our late 20s, but it was no issue to us.

The only issue I could forsee is that the all inclusive option, I don't believe there's many restaurants on site to chose from to eat...

Room Tip: This would be a great place to stay with kids, as the rooms are spacious if getting the 2 bedroom/2...

My family vacationed here mid June and had the best Mexico vacation ever, and we have vacationed throughout Mexico. We stayed in a two bedroom, 7th floor beachfront unit, and it couldn't have been better. The view was stunning, and the constant sound of the waves was music to our ears. The staff throughout the hotel were very accommodating, friendly, and truly went out of their way to make us feel at home. We are not owners here, but wish we could afford to just live here full time. We own with Hilton GVC and also at Diamonte Golf Resort in Cabo. I have to say, this is one place I will return to year after year. As a non-owner, the inclusive program is mandatory, but the cost is reasonable. The food is good, but not great. We all found our favorites, and we pretty much ate a lot of the same things day after day, but we do that at home too. You do have a lot of choices. I recommend the steakhouse ( by reservation) at the Royal Islander, and definitely take a day trip to Playa del Carmen to spend the day at their newest property. The restaurant there is fabulous. I preferred the sandy beach at the Sands though. It was the perfect location for us, since the relaxing beach experience is what we came for. You just can't go wrong here. Oh, and please tip your servers and your cleaning person generously. They work very hard to make your stay pleasant and make very little from the hotel, which is typical (but unfortunate) in Mexico.

Room Tip: We stayed more than a week and had to move rooms after one week. We moved from a beachfront to an oc...
