“Large Group of Family and Friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

The Royal Sands is a 5-star resort offering both member ownership, exchange stays and more recently and All-Inclusive plan. We recently vacationed there with a group of 19 friends and family members and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, the swim-up bars are fun, the pools are fabulous and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They catered to every whim. Being from the midwest, the best part of the resort is the ocean--that beautiful Caribbean Ocean and the beach in front of the Royal Sands is white, soft and magnificent. Their efforts to rescue and preserve baby sea turtles is very impressive and gives their guests a real sense of making a difference in the environment. Top notch all around. You won't regret your stay there!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms at the Sands. We prefer beachfront, but even the pool views also have ocean v...

This is our first stay here, as owners of The Royal Island we thought we try a bigger resort. There are two phases of the resort each with there own pools and pool bars. The pool bars are nice you can get drinks and food to eat without even getting out of the pool, what a life. Phase 1 pool bar even has a large screen TV so you can stay in touch with sports. There is a lot of room around the pools to find tables, chairs or loungers. You can just walk out to the beach to one of the many setting areas.

There is all kinds of activities for all ages such as yoga, zumba, bean bag toss, aqua fitness, beach volley ball, ceramic painting, and more. They also have kayaks, scuba and sailing lessons.

They have different onsite places to each. The LaVeranda is right by phase 1 pool and is the main eating place. They have buffets everyday for all three meals or you can order from the menu. They have good steaks and seafood. There is the Sidelines Sports bar with you can order food and watch the latest sports on TV. While I was there they had the Mayweather fight on at no cost. Next door to phase 2 is the Hacienda Sisal Restaurant which is really nice with Mexican food, steaks, and seafood. There is a dress code and you need to make reservation. The thing I forgot to tell you is there is 24 hour room service.

The Royal Sands Spa is really great. My friend and I went for the four hour package which was outstanding. It is very relaxing. They have everything you could want in a spa. I went almost everyday. The last day my husband and I had the His and Her Package which we really enjoyed do it together. Oh, if you like the Spa go as soon as you get there. If you get one of the packages they add a free day pass for the week.

There is a gift shop and market with most of the everyday items you might need. There is a travel agency and rent a car right on site. There is also a laundry on site where you can do your clothes or if your like me for a tip drop them off and in a couple hours they will be ready.

Overall the resort is just outstanding, but one down fall is for non-owners who are required to purchase the all inclusive since most people coming to Cancun want to be out site seeing and do thing away from the resort so does not work well. Now if you plan on just hanging around the resort and beach to relax then the all-inclusive is great. As owner I get the all-inclusive when just hanging around.

The best part of the resort is the staff. Each and everyone of them do there best to ensure you have a great time, so remember the tips they do not make much salary about $5-$7 per day. Also please remember that this is a timeshare not a hotel. People like me, we own them, so treat like your own home and we will appreciate it. Thanks

Room Tip: All rooms look out over the ocean, but the higher room have the best view. We always try to get the...

First let me say I was there on a member loan so I did not have to purchase the all-inclusive. I believe it was my fifth or sixth time at one of the Royals.

A group of six friends stayed at the Royal Sands September 21 – 28, 2013. Overall, we enjoyed it very much. Every employee we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Our housekeeper was Wendy and she was wonderful, and one of our waiters by the pool, Tomas, was always cheerful and accommodating. Everyone from the housekeeping staff, to the bell staff, front desk, gift shop, restaurants, etc., went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We also had the photographer (Ignacio???) take some photos while we were there. He was friendly, fun and took some great shots. The food was also decent and reasonably priced and as was the selection in the market.

Some of the things that we found less than satisfactory were in relation to our concierge, who gave us inaccurate information multiple times, resulting in higher than anticipated charges for some excursions. However, the manager was able to provide assistance on one of the matters for which we are appreciative.

Our concierge also told us that we could get some significant discounts on some excursions if we participated in a timeshare presentation of the Grand Residences. She assured us that it would only be 90 minutes and that we only needed a “couple” people to attend. So we scheduled that and little did we know that she meant “couple” as in husband/wife. The individual we met with completely ignored the other two people and only focused on the couple. Our concierge told us specifically that “it’s okay and no problem if we do not buy,” but we could get discounts by doing so. We will never repeat that again, regardless of how much the excursion discounts would be. The individual we met with was rude, pushy, and disrespectful as he tried to pressure the couple into buying that day as it was a “limited time offer” for that price. In addition, that 90 minutes took three solid hours away from our vacation so the time commitment was misrepresented.

From the entire trip, that experience was really the only down side. Overall it was a great week. The only thing missing was not hearing “welcome home” as we walked in, when we truly feel at home there.

Room Tip: All rooms have awesome views of resort and ocean. Phase II is quieter than Phase I.

Excellent quality for the Owners Fee paid. Purchased with two frieds. A great value for the money paid. My friend who is a 30 year owner at the Mayan is looking to purchase an additional week now that the Mayan has been sold.

This was our fist visit to the Royal Sands and it did not diappoint we are not members and had to sign up for the refine package which was excellant great value for money. The resort was very clean and the staff were very friendly. Front desk were always on hand to give advice and Karly was extremly good at her job. The staff in the Veranda restaurant were very attentive and provided a very high standard of service we have had a few memorable moments as all the guys want to improve their Engish. One of our best moments was when we released the baby turtles into the sea late one evening what an experience. My only disappointment was the Conceirge they did not take kindly when you said no to attending a presentation and then ignored you for the rest of the holiday I always thought they were there also to provide tips on places to visit not pester you to attend presentation perhaps some of them could do with some training on people skills. Fortunately we meet some lovely people and will continue to keep in touch. Well done Royal Sands,

Room Tip: All the rooms have a good view we stayed in Phase 2 section C and had the best of everything

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to post about our resort.

We appreciate your kind words which we find very rewarding. We always strive to provide our customers with the highest satisfaction levels and we're glad to learn we've achieved this goal with you. We will praise Karly and all the staff from La Veranda for leaving such a nice impression. Please accept our apologies for your Concierge's behavior. Bear in mind that Royal Resorts does not support nor encourages this. We will put extra attention on this subject in order that no other customer feels this way again. We're glad to learn that this inconvenient wasn't able to stop you from enjoying your visit.

We are already looking forward to welcome you during your next visit to Mexican Caribbean.

I'll start by saying that I'm not a member of Royal Resorts. We stayed at the Royal Sands for a week. We had a great time. This was a 5 star resort in every way. I couldn't believe how clean everything was. We are sort of clean freaks so we looked at nook and crannys both inside and outside and clean everywhere. We saw maintenance people working all the time to keep things clean. The maid service came twice a day. They did things which I thought didn't need to be done everyday but they did it like cleaning the sliding glass door window, washing the patio floor. They even unloaded my dishwasher. Can't tell you how impressed we were with the cleanliness. On to the service. Top notch. Everyone was very helpful all the time. We had the all inclusive package so food and drink was included. And we loved the food. The variety was vast and the food was tasty. I loved that you could go to other resorts and restaurants that were part of Royal Resorts. 4 of our nights we ate at the Captains Cove and Hacienda Sissal. Both were fabulous restaurants. Everything was just grand. See my reviews of these two restaurants separately. I've seen some reviewers complain about having to wear a wristband and have your keycard for food but it's really not a big deal. Works out well. Also want to mention that you can get room service as part of your all inclusive which is very convenient at times. We loved the spa. We did the spa on 2 days that we were here. Did a massage and did the fish pedicure. Remember that if you do anything like the fish pedicure, facial or massage, you get to use the spa all day so plan accordingly. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. No special room recommendations since all the rooms seem to be facing the pool and ocean with great views. I'm told that this is the best of the Royal Resorts and one reason is that it's right on the ocean. Very easy access without having to walk down 4 flights of stairs. And if you want to buy silver, find Miguel on the beach. By far the best prices compared to Market 28. We even were suspect of what we were buying so we had one of the high end jewelry shops downtown test what we bought from Miguel and it was real.
