“great vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

As owners we look forward to our week 43/44 vacation each year..our unit and the property look like new. I agree with others that portions at their reasturants are smaller and drinks weaker. We actually had to beg servers at the pool to take our drink orders. The quality of the food is still excellent. I agree that all inclusive should be optional or for 4days. We still love it here and hope the all inclusive doesn't change the atmosphere.

Room Tip: All have ocean view...

I will be doing 2 reviews... one about the resort & one on the All Inclusive. This place is really a beautiful resort. Every room has an ocean view . Very clean with friendly people. The grounds are kept in fantastic condition. Rooms are nice with a micro wave , fridge , coffee maker and a few plates , cups & utensils... also had a hair dryer. Wonderful white sand beach with plenty of chairs around both the pools and the beach. The 2 pools had swim up bars & food available. There is also a nice restaurant and a poolside bar/snack shack. Some of the issues we had were ... the menu is the same at all of the pool bars , room service , Char Hut and lunch at the restaurant...for 7 days ..it kinda gets old. The breakfast buffet was the same every day...CHANGE IT UP !! This place closes down at 5 pm...pools & outside places to eat & drink...come on... we are 60 and we were not ready to give it up for the day !!! No night time entertainment and the only thing going 24/7 was room service. We have been to plenty other resorts and this place is kinda boring. The high point of our stay was getting to release some baby sea turtles into the ocean.

The Royal Sands, Cancun, Mexico is absolutely perfect. The location is ideal, the suites are immaculate and the staff is very accomodating. We stayed there two weeks ago for the second time in the past two years. Housekeeping changed our sheets every couple of days and even washed the dishes in the kitchen (which they are not required to do). They even cleaned the glass balcony doors every day so we could have a perfect view. I wish I could find a housekeeper as good as these gals. We are disappointed to learn that The Royal Sands is now going "All Inclusive" which will add an additional $115 US per guest per day. We could not eat and drink that much in one day. The new "all inclusive" feature applies to Non-Owners. Owners are exempt. The other Royal Resorts in Cancun have not instituted an "All Inclusive" requirement for Non-Owners.... yet. I hope they do not because we will stay at those in the future.

Room Tip: Balconies on the north wing are in the hot sun in the afternoon, in shade in the morning; the opposi...

We bought a week here because it is one of the few resorts that do not have all inclusive requirements. We don't drink enough or want to eat the buffets enough to want all inclusive. So as owners and guests of owners, we don't have to do all inclusive. Every room has an ocean view and a balcony, so it's great to unwind at the end if the day there. The pools are huge and u can swim in it all night long as long as you are quiet. The palapas on the beach are great for all day lounging under...the onsite market and laundry facility make vacationing so much easier.

We recently spent a week at the Royal Sands Resort in Cancun and had a wonderful time. The resort is pristine and the accommodations are beautiful. The balconies are large with very comfortable furniture. We loved the pool and the resort grounds. The staff goes out of their way to ensure all your needs are met and that you are having a great experience. Unfortunately, since the Sands has become an all inclusive resort, and we are not big drinkers, we will no longer be returning. It was a great time while it lasted.

Ought a unit Here in week 44 7years ago. I look forward to coming back rom the day I leave. Always a great vacation. Always a great experience. Great staff, always shining and eager to assist. Good restaurants. Good food. Loy's of activities - if that's what you want to do. Quiet enough for a nap if that's you choosing.
All round, a great place to relax. Leave the watch in your suitcase. Who' cares?
Eat, drink, be merry. When you're tired, sleep!

Room Tip: All rooms view the ocean. Above 3rd floor no trees.

There is so much to say about this resort. We have been going to the royal sands for a few years now after purchasing a time share with interval. We haven't gone anywhere else. This beautiful resort with an excellent beach has many activities for all ages. It has a 5 star spa that goes above and beyond expectations for a very reasonable price. The staff are courteous and friendly and seem to lie their jobs.

The resort itself is environmentally friendly as it has solar panels that heat 50% of the water. The employees are treated so well that they educate them on site up to grade 9 and teach them English.

Don't go anywhere else. You will not be disappointed.
