“A Wonderful Stay”

We recently stayed 9 nights here and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in an Ocean View Junior Suite and it was great.......very modern and spacious. The spa treatments (included with our resort credits) were divine! The breakfast buffet was huge and included an egg chef. The Italian restaurant was divine, and the Asian restaurant was also excellent. The BBQ buffet was fresh and of high quality. Staff are very helpful and are always smiling. Pools and common areas are lovely. We could not really fault anything during our stay. We would happily stay here again.

“Beyond Expectations!”

We traded our timeshare for the Sun Palace, and I posted before our trip asking what we received for that trade, resort credit-wise. We had an ocean view room. However, to receive those resort credits, you do need to attend the time share presentation which they will try to book for you at check-in. Timeshare check in is in a different area of the lobby. You will be offered 750 resort credits for attending.

We attended the presentation, beginning with breakfast the following morning at the Beach Palace. All in all, it was not too painful...was about 2 hours. You are brought to the Beach Palace by taxi and they give you the taxi fare money back for your return trip.

The 750 credits can be used in a variety of ways, tours, spa treatments, room upgrade, fancy wines...we chose Isa Muerjes tour, the Tulum Ruins, Sub See and Snorkel and a massage. Would recommend all except Isla Muerjes. Reason---there are other tours to book when you go there (and I am not sure if we could have booked ahead at the resort and used those credits, but I don't think so). Anyway, if you did not go on a tour you were at that spot for 3 hours, and it was hot!!! There was a pool, free bar and food, not up to resort quality though. After the fact, we learned that we could have taken a $5 taxi ride to the Palace resort there and had lunch and used their pool. Certainly would have done that! One thing that did make us come off that boat from Isla M. with a smile on our face, was the crew...they were a party show unto themselves!!!

For our needs the 750 credits was enough...we used it all and the taxes for tours, etc. came out of the credits as well...so aside from tips (optional), all is free. Would recommend the presentation.

As for the Sun Palace....it is beautiful, flawlessly run, very, very clean, friendly and accomodating staff, elevators that came within seconds, great pool and swim up bar, pretty beach and plenty of lounges, both at beach and pool...good choice spots in sun and shade. Entertainment was fun...the week we went was a good mix of ages....food and drink, excellent. Transportation for tours or taxis was very efficiently run. Service in every area was excellent.

Each restaurant has a 'comment' card at their entrance...if you have an issue, say so, I cannot imagine that it would not be addressed. However, there is an extremely pleasant gentleman who circulates between restaurants to speak to guest to see how their food and service is.

Another staff person, Mr. Winkler, general manager, I commend you. You are a very visible presence throughout the resort. Your attention to detail certainly shows.

To tip or not? Some posters commented that drink service was not as good for those who did not tip. We always tip, it is just what we want to do. However, after reading that comment I did notice...and I did not observe any difference in the service at all.

Finally, we used USA Transfer for the ride to and from the airport. Perfect service, highly recommend!

We will return!

Room Tip: At check-in make sure your room is oceanview.

“Great for couples”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012 NEW

We had an awesome time at Sun Palace! It was our first time to a couples only resort and we really could tell it was just for couples. Very nice, The food was really good. My husband loved the Steak! The beds were awesome. We loved looking out at the ocean from our room in the morning and at night. The only problem was at check out they charged us for the dinner on the beach but it should have been included with our room upgrade, The entertainment staff was fun! DJ, I love my job!!

Room Tip: Loved the ocean view!

“Truly amazing, beyond expectations”

We visited here in jan 2012 and This was our 2nd honeymoon 1st we went to Bali, and all I can say is I wish I went here twice! Its just a pity Mexico isn't closer to Ireland as sun palace is just paradise. I travel a lot with work and would be in hotels nearly every week but can safely say sun palace should not be regarded as a hotel it's more like heaven. The staff I think are what makes it so friendly and personable, I wish I remembered the name of the male waiter in the bar but as soon as we arrived in he had our drinks waiting for us (us Irish appreciate that kind of service). The entertainment and waiting staff were2nd to none.
Just amazing I am telling all my friends and family to go as I think everyone should experience this type of luxury and service some time in their life!

“A very nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012 NEW

Just got back from a relaxing week at the Sun Palace. The hotel was very nice and the staff was great. The room was exactly as described with a great ocean view. The beach was very nice and we have a good time sunning and playing in the gulf. They could probably use another waiter in the concierge level, but the waiters did an excellent job (especially Roger) keep us happy.

I've only stayed at one other all-inclusive and the food was on par with that experience which is to say good but not great. If you are looking for a gourmet experience this isn't it, but then an all-inclusive probably isn't what you should be looking for. The service at all the restaurant locations was excellent. The one surprise was that two of the four dinner locations (The Steak and the Oriental Lounge) are actually setup each night, outside on different patios. This makes for a pleasant dinning experience when the weather is nice, but when it rained (as it did the last two nights) these locations get rolled into a buffet at one of the dedicated restaurant locations (The Alamo). It worked out ok, but I could see it getting chaotic and crowded if the resort was full.
Still, If I was to return to Cancun the Sun Palace would be at the top of my list.
