We stayed in an ocean front junior suite Dec 24-31. Overall, we loved the resort. The Gourmet restaurant was very good. The Mexican actually was our least favourite with terrible service. The Japanese was "ok" but the Miso soup was horrible.
CLEANING - our room was NEVER clean before 3 in the afternoon and on the majority of days we were returning to our room between 4 and 5, having been gone since 9 and the cleaning lady would be there. This was very frustrating as we all wanted to shower and relax but had to wait for cleaning lady. She took FOREVER, like close to an hour, to clean the room. Fortunately we had a balcony and hot tub so we would wait there but it was frustrating. I complained to guest services on the first day when our room was not cleaned until after 5. I was told she would put in a special request for room to be clean every day by 1 but it NEVER happened.
The hot tub in our room was fine, but definitely old and not as shown in the pictures. It was an old triangle shaped 2 person hot tub that you would see in a bathroom, not the glamorous tub in the pictures. It leaked and was covered in paint spatters from where they had painted the balcony. We still used it an had fun, it just wasn't quite as advertised - maybe our room wasn't completely renovated yet.
Tile in shower floor was cracked and there were some wires hanging from ceiling with tape around them. Again, it didn't look like this room had actually been renovated although it was fine.
EVERYTHING else and we would definitely stay here again. It is beautiful, beautiful pool, public areas and grea beach. The buffet was just fine for us - tons of choices. I LOVE soup of all things and on two days they had two of the best soups I have ever had. I couldn't stop eating it!! (cream of pumpkin and cream of mushroom with asparagus - AMAZING!!!). Lots of bars so it never seemed a line up anywhere and we where there over Christmas. The Christmas Eve Gala buffet was amazing although I have to say I was shocked at how so many guests take soooo much food. There was tons of seafood but guests were acting like if they didn't pile 10 pounds of lobster on their plates they might starve to death....just an observation that had nothing to do with the hotel but I am sure much food is wasted which adds to everyone's cost. Staff was great, pool and entertainment staff very friendly.
We are a family with 9 and 11 year old kids and it was the perfect resort for us. I would definitely go again!!
If you can - get the ocean front junior suite. you get essentially 2 rooms joined and a huge balcony...
