Wonderful family vacation in July. We loved the ocean here so much that we were still in it 60 minutes before we had to meet the shuttle in the lobby to go home! We found the hotel to be clean, our room was comfortable, a bit small for a family of four, but the beach was what captivated us. We were glad that we upgraded to the Royal Beach Club and enjoyed our daily breakfasts and nightly appetizers. The happy hour is a nice way to connect with other people staying at the hotel. We went on two excursions during the week. One to Xel-ha and the ruins at Tulum and the other was a zip-line jungle tour with Selvatica. We enjoyed the day at Xel-ha and Tulum but we absolutely loved the zip-line tour. Everyone associated with Selvatica was amazing. That was definately the highlight of the trip.

Stayed at this hotel as part of a work trip. Close to airport but hardly any noise from aircraft. Great welcome from reception staff. The room was clean, comfortable and had a great view of the pool and beach/ocean area. Although the restaurant and bars areas seemed busy, the rooms and corridors were very quiet.

Loved the Happy Hour in the Bar - cocktails were amazing and the bar staff give you them in plastic cups so you can go down and sit by the pool to drink them. (No glass allowed around the pool). Ordered food from the El Palmar bar menu which was nice and tasty as well as good value for money.

Not up to westin standards. Poorly maintained. I am starwood platinum so the odds are I get way better treatment than the average guest. Rooms are nicely sized but service is mediocre. We had two hotel rooms that were connected.A way better bet for a family is the westin lagunamar which is further down the strip

We stayed here in April 2008. It was me, my husband and our almost 2 year old daughter. They were very accommodating. We waited for a room with a queen sized bed in the Royal Beach Club ($35 more/night). They stored our luggage for us while we waited for our room to be cleaned - meanwhile we ate lunch then sat on the beach. The kids club wasn't available to us (our daughter was too young), so I can't comment on that. None of the pools were overly crowded. We never had a problem finding a chair - although we were up and out of our room at 7:30 every morning. The Royal Beach Club upgrade allowed us to eat at the breakfast buffet for free (smaller than the one in the main hotel but still plenty big). It also provided us with a free happy hour in the evening for about 2 hours - plenty of appetizers (served as our dinner several times) and whatever you wanted to drink. The view from our room was great - ocean view. I definitely recommend this hotel and we are already planning a trip back when our new baby turns 2!
