“Best Hotel in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Everything about this resort was perfect. Service, room cleanliness, beachfront, atmosphere, and an excellent breakfast buffet. Because of its location the ocean tends to be more calm than the ocean fronts along other parts of the Hotel Zone. We would only stay here again during future visits to Cancun.

Room Tip: The ocean views are excellent. We stayed on the 8th floor.

The hotel is located in the Hotel Zone in Cancun, has a beautiful beach and several pools. The rooms are OK, but need some improvement.
The restaurant La Joya is great, very good food and service with show at night. The Viña del Mar Restaurant is not. We only ate breakfast because the food is not good and expensive. When the food is great you do not mind, but when it is not you want to scream.
Another thing I did not like was that they charge you extra if you use the Gym. The hotel is not cheap, so why cannot be included ?
But all this we forgot when we used the Spa... what an experience. First, the place is huge, it was built and designed as Spa, not adapted. Second, they include in every treatment the "Hydrotherapy Service". This is it. Two hours before your treatment you can experience how an adult can be spoiled, wow. You will not regret an indoors afternoon in Cancun.

Room Tip: Ask for upper levels, have better view.

I went to Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Resort for my 1st ann. with my wife, and I was very satisfied.

The resort is HUGE. You do not need to leave the resort and you will have a great time. The beach and pool both are fantastic. If you are into spa (my wife is), you will have a great time. The scene is breath taking. The resort is at a unique location in Cancun, near the tip of the lagoon. The staff were very friendly. I would certainly consider revisiting if I return to Cancun.

If you are into romantic dinners, go to Isla Contoy for a dinner at the beach. It is a buffet that includes a glass of wine. Using the $25 off coupon, I paid $56 plus tip for two.

One confusing thing was the price. All the food menu was in peso, but the spa pricing was in US dollars... The spa was a little pricey, but with coupons it is affordable and top notch service. My wife had an Asian foot massage that comes with spa.

My main complain would be that Wi-Fi is not free. I paid $25 for the entire stay, but this day and age, who pays for Wi-Fi? I read couple complains about the '600 dollar resort credit'. I found about only half of the coupon items are useful, but I understand this is a promotional offer. If you expect this coupon to cover all your expenses, you should look for an all inclusive resort and this place is not for you. I did some comparison shopping, and concluded this is a better deal than all inclusive deal, if you are not a heavy drinker/eater.

We booked at the last minute and didn't have a lot of choices. We'd never been to Cancun and we chose Fiesta Americana Coral Beach based on photos and others' reviews. The photos don't lie. Great pools, a postcard beach and the best location. Plus, the staff was top notch. Friendly and helpful, especially the valet parking guys.

This is one of the more expensive hotels but it was worth it. The biggest problem is the cost of the hotel restaurants. If you have a family, you have to stick with the outdoor poolside/beachfront restaurant or the cafe. The beauty of this location is that you can walk to cheaper places (including McDonald's, Hard Rock Cafe and a couple local restaurants). You're not captive like you are at some of the other hotels where you need a taxi or rental car to escape.

There's a small (but expensive) mall and a Starbucks nearby and even an area of market stalls if you want to load up on souvenirs. The hotel is close to "ground zero" for the party crowd. Four or five loud dance clubs but you can't hear anything at the hotel. If you want surf, instead of the calm water at the hotel beach, it's a 100-yard walk to the public beach access.

As nice as the hotel was, I'm glad we decided to rent a car. The parking is free (just tips for the valets) and there's so much to do within a couple hours' drive. You can see a lot if you buy tours with transportation but you'll be spending a lot of time on the tour bus and you can't go places when you want. I decided two days before our trip to look into renting and was surprised at how reasonable it was. Maybe I was just lucky but Hotwire had cars for as little as 8 bucks a day (that's a tiny car...) We went with a "full size" car for $15/day (turned out to be a Jetta from Alamo). Even with the CDW ($11/day on-line in advance from Hotwire, not Alamo) and the mandatory Mexican Liability Insurance at Alamo ($13/day), the rental car was well worth it. You can always keep your options open by reserving the car on-line for the second part of your trip (you don't have to pay in advance) and taking a taxi to pick it up at the airport.

The next time we can afford to go back to Cancun, we'll be staying at the same place.

We spent 4 glorious days and 3 nights in this very nice resort. The spa is amazing! We felt like we had the place all to ourselves; no crowds. End of April is the best time to go! Sunny days, cool evenings, and the staff treats you incredibly well! The brunch is delicious!!! Luxury, comfort and white-glove treatment!

Room Tip: 8th floor- rooms 858 to 865 don't get sun all day long!!! You can feel the ocean breeze! wonderf...

We travel extensively, but this was my first trip to Cancun and the Fiesta Americana. I cannot say enough good things about this property. The Beach is incredible and perfect for swimming. Towards downtown the beaches are too shallow to swim, but kids can play in the water, while further down the strip the beaches are large crashing waves with strong undertows. The beaches in the Punta Cancun area are amazing. The food in every venue was amazing. The service was equally impressive. I honestly do not know how I would improve on the food experience. Do not miss the nightly buffet at the Isla Contoy ( the palapa restaurant on the beach) and you must try the Champagne Breakfast at least once. If you want great service at the pool, use the section serviced by Sergio!

Room Tip: Ordering an ocean front provides an incredible view! If you have any issues walking, ask for a room...

Do it!

Grand Club is an all-inclusive “type” option at a non-inclusive price. The Grand Club itself is located on the 11th floor. They served hors d’oeuvres at all hours of the day. It’s more than enough food for a meal. It’s basically a full breakfast buffet, including smoked salmon, bagels, bacon, eggs and more. Lunch can be fajitas, chicken wings, salads etc. The Dinner hors d’oeuvres options include mini burgers, little sandwiches and other options. Beer and wine (including champagne!) is available all day. From 5pm to 8pm they host a full open bar… Including premium liquor.

The other great thing about being part of the Grand Club is the level of pool service. They set up chairs with towels for you and bring you cold bottled water as soon as you finish one. They also adjust umbrellas depending on your sun preference.

The spa is magnificent. A bit on the expensive side, but we had a ‘passport’ coupon book that gave us a free water service with dinner. The dinner was excellent. I do wish they had a co-ed option as you’re alone in the rooms, which aren’t bad, but it would be fun to hang with your partner.

A couple negatives. The music at the pool and the Gran Club is horrible. They play lounge/elevator music versions of popular songs. It totally devalues the experience of laying by a pool in Mexico. I know that everyone has a difference of opinion on music but I heard tons of people complaining. No music would have been better. Give us some local music. I’d rather feel like I’m in Mexico than an elevator in Sears.

Other negative was there is a BEAUTIFUL patio outside of the Grand Club but no furniture. I thought that was a bit odd.

Altogether a great experience.
