“Very Nice Resort- Amazing Spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

We just returned this past week. The weather was a little cooler than expected with overcast on several days, however still beautiful. We have been to Cancun almost a dozen times staying everywhere from the Omni, Oasis, Riu Las Americ, and Westin. We were pleased with the resort and the overall experience. We are very close to downtown and a 10.00 cab ride away from Luxury Lane (high ends shopping and nice restaurants (Ruth Chris).

We travled with our 2 children ages 3 and 11. The children's club was not that great. They lacked activities on the beach and in the pool area.

Plenty of water sports are available at the hotel. Jet ski rental is 50.00 for 1/2 hour and snorkeling is 38.00 per adult 30.00 per child for one hour.

The breakfast buffet is very good. Price is 30 per adult and children free. The average lunch price is 40-50 for 2 adults (children were free).

The Spa was amazing and relaxing. The average massage is 240.00 for 80 minutes however they were running a buy one get one free special.

Overall we were very pleased and would stay at this resort in the future.

Room Tip: Higher room allow better view of ocean

“Fiesta Americana - Grand Again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Bottom Line: Understated elegant resort.;Book a rate that includes breakfast for entire stay.
Do not book a rate that includes a 'set of coupons' - you only get 1-2 breakfasts; the other coupons are for their restaurants that you may not like or decide not to use.

Stayed 11/18-11/23/12.
We have stayed here at least 6 times over a 10 year period. We book the least expensive room (Deluxe Ocean View). Never disappointed witht the room, bathroom, a/c.

Our most recent stay was in the West tower and included their amazing buffet breakfast.
We never get any other meals at the hotel (too expensive).

No need to repeat what other reviews cover regarding: beach (small but nice), amenities, etc.

Room Tip: West Tower rooms are all renovated. Ask to be away from elevators.

“wonderful place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Just spent Thanksgiving there, got upgraded room, French restaurant is excellent, the seafood restaurant is very nice as well. Service is wonderful. Only one thing I didn't like in there - small beach, I like to walk long distance on the beach instead just to sit there. Overall I would recommend it to everybody. Before I have stayed twice in JW Marriott (9 years ago and 2 years ago) and the second time Marriott was a great dissapoitment, food and service weren't good, also they tried to charge me for something I didn't buy. I would recommend FA as very nice hotel and I really like the service, people are very friendly and helpful there. I traveled in many countries abroad, so I have some experiences with hotels:))))

“Great View of Ocean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Recently stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in November 2012. Two things that I was disappointed about were that there is NO free wi-fi anywhere in the hotel and they do not have a jacuzzi in their pool area (would be nice when the weather is a little cooler). Otherwise, their breakfast buffet is a definite must. The hotel staff is super nice. We had a junior ocean view room and the view was amazing. The private beach is great. As far as the location of the hotel, it is very convenient. You can walk to stores like Oxxo for small necessities. The forum by the sea is also within walking distance (Coco Bongo is there). Lots of choices for food in the surrounding area. The room would have been better if they had double sinks in the bathroom. The TV is difficult to operate. However, the balcony is nice & roomy. Again, very nice hotel staff.

“One of the best hotels in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Spent a week in this hotel during quiet season and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a lovely hotel, and all rooms have a fantastic view. After scanning the web and travel brochures looking at dozens of hotels in Cancun, I was very happy with our decision to stay here.

We booked a club room and received a refurbished room in the west wing, on a higher floor so the room was very comfortable and the view was amazing. Staff service, the fantastic view, club furnishings & facilities and quality of food and drink in the club room was high. The club room was quiet during the week, and busier on the weekend. Too bad they have to let kids in there - they can spoil the peace and relaxation.

We enjoyed a drink at the lobby bar each night before heading up to the room. We asked for dessert wine which the bar staff wasn't familiar with immediately. After a few minutes of amusing attempts at translation, we finally got the message through with "late harvest". Ah! That did the trick. Next thing you know, the guy is off out of the bar only to return a few minutes later from the restaurant next door with a bottle of dessert wine. He couldn't sell it to us by the glass so we bought the bottle, which he kept behind the bar for us and each night we went back for another glass. Not only was the service good, but we became good friends by the end of the week. As soon as he saw us coming we were treated like royalty.

The service at the beach and pool was great too. The Caribbean water is so warm and lovely.

One word of warning - we booked through Expedia because we could choose a "Black Passport" promotion. It wasn't mentioned on the booking confirmation emailed, so I questioned it with both the hotel and Expedia. The hotel said to ask Expedia, and they said to ask the hotel. I suspected I was going to have trouble and sure enough, on arrival at the hotel, there was no record of it. Because I feared this might happen I took printouts of the website with me to show the hotel as proof. To cut a long story short, we didn't get all our Black Passport benefits (very disappointing) but after some assertive words with the hotel management, they compensated us with some benefits, which we were satisfied with in the end. So my advice is to be wary of any promotions advertised - if you choose it, it must be clearly stated on your booking confirmation. Don't trust that it will work out.

Oh, and one of the best bits... the spa! You'll read about this in other reviews, and every word is true. It is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Make sure you budget for and plan at least two visits there. Worth every cent and minute. The 10 step hydrotherapy treatment was great, and so were the massages. The facilities and service in the spa are wonderful.

Room Tip: I recommend the bit extra to book a club room: you get a room higher up and most of the time we did...
