“Excellent Service - Beautiful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2011

This was our first time going to Mexico and also our first time staying at an All-Inclusive resort. Upon arriving the building and grounds around are beautiful. Transportation was great (we went through Delta Vacations and it was all set up for us) The hotel is very open and airy with tall ceilings and lots of thatched roofs. We had a garden view room with a king bed but because they were out of the king bed rooms we got a free upgrade to an Ocean view - Wow! We were right in the middle of the building and could see the pools, bars, beach, ocean, it was amazing! The room was always clean, comfortable, fresh towels, bottled water and a great temperature. We left the sliding door open and the fan on, never used the air. The restaurants were all good - as was the buffet in the morning. Room Service and all drinks in your room are included too and you're not charged extra. The BEST was the lunchtime fish tacos at the bar/restaurant near the beach - great after a few drinks ;) There was a lot of variety for dinner choices, Mexican, Italian, Asian or the Buffet with lots of choices too. We heard people saying they made reservations but we never did and never had to wait. We like to try new things and the staff always made great recommendations about what was the best. The drinks were great - if you want a more top shelf liquor though make sure you ask for it, they have it but if you don't specify they won't use it. I strongly suggest bringing a stack of ones and tipping a dollar or two, without it you get good service but with it you get great service! And they work so hard and are so friendly you want to tip them. We met so many friendly guests staying there too, everyone there was there to have a good time and we did!
I have two small complaints and they really are small - the pool was pretty cold. We swam in the ocean most days, the waves were fun and the water was warm so we liked that better. Really the only time we were at the pool was the swim up bar which was okay to be knee deep but I wouldn't want to go in anymore. The other complaint was little to no music by the beach bars :( They had speakers and sometimes quietly played some outdated music but during the day we (and a lot of other guests said the same thing) would have liked some dance/party music to get people having more fun. Even at the beach bar which didn't serve food they could have had a boombox or something?
Other than that loved it! Would definitely go back! And talking to a lot of other people who had stayed at a lot of other resorts they said this was the best they had tried.

Also - try the Snorkeling/Jet boat excursion - you get a 2 seater boat and take about a 45 ride to a reef, snorkel and drive back - FUN!

Just returned from a 7 day vacation with the family, wife and two kids. I read all the reviews two weeks before going here. I was impressed with my stay here and would return. The resort was very clean and the security was excellent. The international buffet was perfect especially with th kids. The bar service was great and they did serve top shelf liquors, you just had to ask for them, also a little tip never hurt to start the endless flow of the good stuff.

The beds were a bit hard but the room service sometimes twice daily made up for it. You could pass on the nice looking Italian restaurant near the lobby, atmosphere and food looked nice but taste was lacking.

The service was excellent, I do recommend tipping when served. Speaking to the workers in Spanish, they told me that their salarys are not that high 50 pesos a day, so any extra helps. Don't be cheap like most people I saw, if you are take a cruise to Rosarito with all the other poor losers.

I hope this helps out and enjoy beautiful Cancun.

We were looking for a nice place for our vacation. Well we sure found it. This property has nice room, great staff, the beach is beautiful.

We love that the resort, it's small and well kept. We were looking for a relaxed atmosphere and good food and this place does not disapoint.

I don't understand the food reviews because, we find the food to be above average for a AI.

I love the staff, they are so helpfull and nice. They get a 10 out of 10 for us.

If your looking for a party resort this isnt it, but if you are looking for a nice freindly resort, this is your destination.

Our first time here and not our last.

This was a great all inclusive resort! They had a handful of restaurants to choose from...which were all pretty good. Also room service at any time is included. They do have things on the menus that you have to pay extra for....steaks, lobster, non-house wines, non-rail liquor, etc.
The staff is so incredible! Everyone is so nice and helpful. I can't say enough about them!
Had entertainment every night in the theater. Also if you are wanting to do the clubs, they have organized trips for you.
Everything was very clean. The rooms were nice....not luxurious but nice.
The grounds were really nice. The pools were great but only one hot tub was working...that was unfortunate on the cloudy days. The one working was always very busy.
The beach was great and so was the water. You can walk along the beach for awhile which was nice.
Overall, this was a great resort!

First the good: The hotel is very beautiful and clean. The staff were very outgoing, friendly and most spoke english pretty good. Our room was great and kept clean. The beach was also great.
Now for the bad: The food was awful. We are not picky people and can usually find something to eat anywhere, but we were very dissappointed in the food selection as well as taste. The buffet had the same food everyday - eggs for breakfast, pasta for lunch and fish or pork chops for dinner. It never changed. The Mexican and Italian resturant served ridicouly small portions. We ordered ravoli entree at the Italian and it was 4 small ravoli with some sauce on top. At the Mexican we ordered shrimp and scallop skewers, it was two skewers - each shewer had one small shrimp and one small scallop on it (a total of 2 small shrimp and 2 small scallops for a dinner entree). The food was very bland tasting too.
The other disappointment was there was hardly any activities going on. Maybe every 3-4 hours the activity staff would arrange something like beach volleyball, or bingo. There were never any activities listed on the activity board and nothing was ever announced. They did a show a 8, which usually ended around 9 and after that there was nothing going on at the hotel. We are not party people, but also didn't want to retire to our rooms at 9pm at night due to lack of things to do. If you wanted any kind of night life at all you had to go downtown. We ended up buying a pack of cards from the shop across the street (because the gift shop didn't sell cards) and playing cards most nights in the lobby. Overall we had an good time, but wouldn't go back because of the bad food and lack of activites.

My wife and I stumbled onto this gem of a hotel for our honeymoon in 2005 and we have been coming back twice a year ever since. I value my vacations and once I’ve found a great experience, I am not willing to experiment. The hotel has just switched over to an all inclusive status. When we heard they were going to go over to all inclusive we were a little apprehensive but they again refused to disappoint us. The all inclusive includes a variety of activities and yoga is one of them. This is an experience you can’t miss – yoga by the seaside. You sit on a grassy lawn facing the beach with a full sky overhead and the waves crashing in before you. The instructor, Tomás, is a master who was trained by east Indians. It is truly a transcendental experience. A feature that we love about the hotel is the blend of the Mexican/Spanish architecture and the warm and friendly atmosphere. Some of the newer hotels we find to be cold, austere and uninviting. It also has a nice mix of clients from all over the world. Being there in January, there were many people from Brazil (it’s their summer) and Mexico (children not in school). By rotating among the buffets, restaurants and stands you have a nicely varied and tasty menu. We are looking forward to returning in the summer with our sons and their families.

I am currently here now (not leaving until Friday) and wanted to post something real-time for those of you planning your trip asap. Firstly, without sounding too ostentatious or snobby...we do have pretty high expectations when we travel. We value our time away and prefer quiet, courteous, clean and up-market places so that we can totally relax in a comfortable environment. If this is what you are looking for....with value added....then this is the place for you. Our usual 2 week break finds us at the 5 star Paradisus resort in DR. This year, we looked for something different but with the same level of service. We were not expecting it to be THIS good. Fiesta Americana has surpassed our expectations. Here is a breakdown of the experience; both good and bad (although more like "not wonderful" because bad is a pretty harsh word).
THE GOOD - 1) The service is out of the this world. The ability to communicate in English, from the front desk to the servers is something which they pride themselves on. You will not run into communication problems at all. 2) The location and proximity to the airport is worth noting. We had a 12 minute cab ride and were grateful to not be stuck on a bus for 45 minutes in the dark. 3) The grounds and the building itself are impeccably maintained. The cleanest I have ever seen anywhere. The gardens are gorgeous, the chairs are cleaned and re-arranged daily, floors are constantly being washed.....incredible. 4) This is a non-smoking indoor environment. Smoke outside all you like...but not indoors. This was a blessing. 5) Easy to get around....smaller hotel, more intimate....great for relaxing. 6) Classier patrons. Very rare to find loud obnoxious (aka drunk) North Americans screaming and shouting all day and night. Nice if you have a family or don't want to listen to crap day in and day out. 7) No loud music outside during the day which again is a blessing if you want to relax. Not the place for you if you like loud music all day long by the pool. 8) Very streamlined and tasteful decor. The lobby bar is reminiscent of a South Beach hotel; very sexy and cool. 9) Rooms are generous in size with new flat screen TVs. They are washed top to bottom daily. Maids visit twice and bring water at night. View from ocean rooms is breathtaking. Worth the extra (although a large lagoon is on the other side and offers equally stunning views with more activity). 10) Food is very fresh, clean and tasty. 11) Pool and beachfront servers are a bonus. You don't have to lift a finger; they bring drinks and food to you all day. Whether you tip or not, they are always "on" and in great spirits. This is a lovely bonus.
THE "NOT PERFECT" - 1) Food lacks variety despite being fresh and tasty. Missing that extra "umph" sometimes. No dress codes either which I don't like. Nothing worse than people walking in with tank tops, short shorts, flip flops and ball caps. A big turn off at dinnertime for me. 2) The pool is freezing cold. Too cold to go in. Really should consider heating it. I think it's between 65-70. COLD. 3) Maintenance staff makes a lot of noise. They like using a hammer for everything (chipping paint off metal posts in the early am, "fixing" a pipe etc....). A lot of clanging that stopped once I called down to complain. 4) The spa hot tub and sauna were cold. Not worth paying the day rate to go in for this reason as you will be disappointed. 5) The banisters in the building are very very low. Anyone over 5'3 risks falling over. Stay clear from the edges in high heels or if you have had too much to drink. I am 6' without heels and the railings came to my mid-thigh. Scary when you are 6 floors up. Would not pass code in other countries. Don't travel here with a pre-divorce spouse if you know what I mean ;-) 6) Not much to do at night. This was fine for us because we came here so that we could NOT do things at night....but most people wanted more than just the lobby bar with a jazz singer. We like it this way but many people were complaining about the lack of night life.

We will definitely come back. For the price, we got an exceptional bang for our buck. While it's not like a 5 star in Beverly Hills, it's one of the most well reputed and elegant in that price range. It has been and continues to be a wonderful holiday.

Hope this helps!
