“Wasn't So Bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

This hotel has it's pluses and minuses like any other hotel. For the price, I didn't expect too much but was pleased.

The breakfast everyone speaks of, I did not get. I ended up paying for my breakfast at the Bistro 277 (or D'Ambiance). The prices were reasonable and the food was pretty good so I didn't mind the money. Room service is available through the restaurant for a fee,

The hotel is located downtown away from the Hotel Zone. With that being said, it took some time getting through traffic to get there. The mall is within walking distance (5 minutes) and Walmart is a short ride (35 pesos) away. The rooms are nice, staff cleans pretty well, 2 complimentary bottled water during your stay, but don't drink or eat ANYTHING that came with the room! You will be charged. Went without hot water for 24 hours but it came back on eventually. Water pressure and temperature were okay as well. I enjoyed the staff (who spoke English well enough) to include the taxi driver who hangs out there pretty often. I did book a shuttle from the airport for $11 USD ahead of time but would have graciously paid the 300 pesos for a taxi to take me to my hotel (I waited 30 minutes at the airport for transportation to be taken the wrong hotel).

The Wifi works most of the time in the room and lobby but is better than some hotels (I heard). If you would like somewhere to stay and are not moved by oohhs and ahhs, this is the hotel for you. If you want to experience the city life, stay in the hotel zone. This hotel was nice, calm and peaceful for me!

Room Tip: The shutting of room doors can be felt down the hall. The shutting of doors shakes your doors. If li...

Very high level hotel, the rooms and decor.
But it is far away from areas of entertainment, shopping, and the beach and a taxi costs a lot!
The hotel's breakfast is very unnecessary, serving only two slices of bread with butter, and this addition is not justified, it is better to eat outside the hotel.
Our experience was ruined because of the distance away from the center.
Most of the people that staying at the hotel were businessmen.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about Ambiance Suites Cancun.

May I suggest that during your next visit try using the bus public service to go to the beach or the Hotel Zone, it is more affordable than the taxi service.

The hotel is located a few meters away from one of the biggest shopping malls in the city, please do not hesitate to ask at reception about any direction, we will be happy to assist you during your stay.

I recommend you to reserve with American breakfast included for a better experience at our restaurant. We appreciate your comments and we would like to let you know we are always working to improve.

Greetings

Great hotel for people who prefer sightseeing to siting around pool with a drink. Hotel room was very clean, immaculate with big comfortable bed. The bathroom was equipped with Jacuzzi and separate shower. There was also a big wardrobe to store clothes etc. No place to store your valuables- like monies, passport etc. but honestly I felt safe leaving things in room. I had a spacious room with an additional kitchen unit and dinning room. More than enough for one person. This hotel is rather for business travelers however if you plan to sightseeing, the location will not play a role. To get to the nearest beach [hotel zone] you need to take a bus [10 pesos, 30 min] from the seashells' roundabout bus station or take taxi [100 pesos]. This small hotel has also a gym which is a big plus. Disadvantages - a very small pool- which was for decoration rather than swimming. The service was good in general however the restaurant should not be called even this way. It was rather a canteen. Breakfast was really poor - 1 juice, 1 coffee, 2 toast and strawberry jam. So I decided to eat outside the hotel especially because of restaurant cleanliness. Near the hotel there is a shopping center called Plaza America with lots of shops, cinema, Starbucks, MacDonald`s. etc. Summarizing this hotel is perfect if you spend most of the day outside - f.e sightseeing; good online booking deals! The restaurant and pool are weak points here.

Small hotel located near Las Americas shopping mall. Easy access to taxis and city busses. Take a taxi to the beaches. This hotel is suited for business guests, rather than vacation for families. The pool is very small and not suited for swimming. The staff is very accommodating but few speak English. Daniela, at the front desk, offers excellent advice for excursions and ensures that arrangements are made. Rooms are very nice and everything stays spotlessly clean. Per Daniela's recommendations, we took an all day excursion to Tulum and Xel Ha, another day excursion to Islas Mujeres, and another day we spent at Playa Tortuga. It was a very relaxing vacation. Just what we needed.

I was very glad I found the Ambiance Suites in Cancun. It's an immaculately clean 4 star hotel, where you will feel instantly comfortable for sure. It is super clean, tastefully furnished, great comfy bed, superb en-suit shower with great water pressure. It's a very good hotel even with a European standard. I really enjoyed the comfort of the place. I had a very good night sleep there. I wished I had chosen this hotel for the first place when I arrived to Cancun. The place was a relief for me, especially that I was recuperating from an accident.

However their restaurant was a rather unpleasant surprise - I had a knee injury, therefore I eat my lunch there. I already had problems with my breakfast - i had a conference call to make at 8am, just wanted to grab a coffee beforehand and a slice of toast. It's a sit down breakfast, you are served, which wasn't great in my case - especially not that I couldn't return to the restaurant to have my breakfast after my phone conference, as I was taken off the list (I was marked as a person who already had breakfast). After a short discussion with the English speaking receptionist I was allowed to have breakfast (a microscopic portion of scrambled eggs), however I wasn't allowed to have coffee as I already had one! It felt like a joke, but what can you do? It felt super stingy.

I had lunch there, given that I wasn't very mobile. It was totally tasteless, soaking in oil, you get better food from the street, honestly.

All in all it's a great hotel, but below average restaurant. I would stay there again because of the hotel's comfort, but would not have breakfast there.

Another thing: try to book your room in advance, their rooms are much cheaper via third party hotel sites! I didn't book ahead, checked the price online before I got there and was surprised that at the reception the same room would cost 4-500 pesos more! Book ahead and get their online deals, it's worth it.

Room Tip: Their economy rooms are superb - no need to look further. I asked for a room facing the garden, room...

Having two weeks plus in the Cancun area we decided to get off the tour trap Zona Hotel strip. Ambiance Suites were a treat. 6 nights for under $500. Cheap taxis everywhere in the city zone. 25pesos . Staff where excellent. Rooms are very clean. The negative if you want a pool in the sun its there is no sun on the pool. For meals you will find many choices. One of the best places we had meals was at the.bull ring.only a10 minute walk. All in all, worth the price and would return again.

For the price we'd paid we didn't expect a nice, large and clean room like we had.
The staff was kind and helpfull. The tourists area and beaches are too far to go by foot but there's a bus stop nearby and cab's are not expensive in this area.

We enjoyed the stay very much!
