This is a great go-to place if you happen to be craving sushi when you are in Cancun and suffering from mexican food overload. Sometimes you just need a change form the heavy sauces, rich meats and spicy habeneros salsa..good stuff by the way!! We are still here and have 4 days left and we had a sushi restaurant in our hotel that was not good so we went wandering around downtown and saw a random sign with only Japanese writing and no english so we thought...hmmm...probably for the Japanese tourists that need a little udon soup and rice action to satisfy the cravings of the motherland.
We got lucky with some super super fresh sashimi and great service. We did the raw mackeral (saba appetizer) test and it was incredibly fresh and not stinky at all!! They didn't have any fresh uni so they didn't want to serve it which we thought was the right answer. :)
We had unagi hand rools, agedashi tofu, tempura udon and a nigiri 10 piece. Was excellent. The hirame tasted like butter! was awesome! Pretty basic selection
I gave it 4 stars because the menu had a pretty basic and also a bit pricey as 10 pieces of sushi was 240 pesos which is like 24 bucks. Also, they allowed cigarette and cigar smoking in the restaurant which was a total downer. It wasn't super fancy but it wasn't a dive. I think the fish would have tasted even better without the cigarrette cigar combo. There was literally a guy sitting behind me puffing a cigar and another person across from us smoking away her marlboro.
Good job for keeping it real and not americanizing the sushi for all the tourists as A LOT of the restaurants do here...suprisingly!
