On January 11, 2010, my brother in law and I played golf at the Riviera Cancun Golf Course. Having played twice earlier in the week at Moon Palace, we wanted to try a different course. Unfortunately, the overall course conditions at Riviera Cancun were deplorable. From unrepaired ball marks on several of the greens, club divots on the tee boxes to large completely bare areas (dirt & rocks) throughout many of the fairways, I was extremely disappointed. Having played golf for over 25 years, I was shocked to arrive at a course that is just over a year old and experience the conditions we experienced at Riviera Cancun. After playing 36 holes at the beautiful Moon Palace courses, we were expecting similar playing conditions and considering we paid more for golf at Riviera Cancun, we certainly expected more. This course needs a tremendous amount of work and improvements and Palace Resorts should be ashamed to have their name associated with such a poorly maintained golf course. Aside from the views and the layout, my overall impression/ opinion of this course is that of a decently maintained public course.
Needless to say, of the 5 rounds of golf we played, 4 were at Moon Palace and we will certainly be back there...not Riviera Cancun!
Enjoy your round...go to Moon Palace!!
