“Hidden jewel in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

La Palapa Belga has been a great dining experience for several years. Our recent visit was no exception. Daily blackboard specials offer good value and extensive variety. Local fish options are well prepared and give the diner a taste of culinary delight. In addition, duck and lamb offerings are also well prepared and creatively presented. Located on the bay overlooking the night lights of the hotel zone, La Palapa is an intimate space, perfectly suited for an affordable yet rich dining experience.

“Relaxed & romantic setting...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

If you are looking for that truly vacation feeling 'La Palapa Belga' is it! It is an open air restaurant (under a thatch roof) in the lagoon side of the hotel zone. The setting is very relaxed and romantic. The price is very reasonable and the food is of excellent gourmet quality. Don't miss out on this 'hidden gem' oh yes and the creme brulee is heavenly!

“Take time out for a new dining experience in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We travel every year at least once or twice to Cancun and this last visit revealed a previously undiscovered gem in dining. La Palapa Belga is in the Hotel Zone but offers an intimate, unique dining experience. The proprietor, who is extremely gracious, makes you feel like you are visitors to his own home and provides info on the menu as well as the unique cocktails offered on a daily basis, we tried the guava martini which was fantastic. You are seated at tables on a veranda on the lagoon with views of the city. The menu is part Mediterranean, part European and very eclectic. Very fresh seafood entrees are offered as well as Greek salads and traditionally prepared meat dishes Service is outstanding, the whole package is something we will return to enjoy, very personal service, excellent food, and an evening to remember.
