“Good place for some real Mexican food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We stopped by the La Destilleria about 4pm and the location was not busy (I understand the evenings are very busy). The food was good with some unusual choices that we were not used to seeing on the menu. The service was good and the waiter spoke very good English and helped us pick out some items. Their house soup is delicious.

“Best Meal in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Just because La Destileria in the Hotel Zone, easy to get to by bus, and near the La Isla Shopping Mall, does not mean its not outstanding. It is outstanding and offers the best of Mexican food and service.

This place is near a bus stop so its easy for anyone to get to, and its just south of the La Isla Mall, a great after dinner walk and place for dessert.

The ambience is very nice. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat inside, and liked it. The wait was short and everything we had was excellent.

I especially enjoyed the molcajete ( A molcajete is a basalt stone bowl-- the traditional Mexican version of the mortar and pestle tool that was developed by the Aztec and Maya people).

The food served in the molcajete stays hot for a very long time, and it is not unusual for a dish to still be bubbling 30 minutes after serving.

Tip: get a reservation.

“worse meal in Cancun”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

hands down worse meal and most over priced food we had in Cancun. I have had better tacos off street carts in San Francisco and LA than this place - pricing for a basic lunch for two ran us over $50 dollars. The ONLY dish that was passable was the queso fundido - the rest was so bad that it hurt me to pay the bill. Would never return or recommend to anyone

“So good we went twice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Fabulous lagoon with a sunset view. Fun, attentive & excellent service - our waiter entertained our children (11 & 14) by pouring their drinks with a soda can from the flat of his hand (w/out gripping). My husband is a "foodie" and he, as well as all of us loved our meals. Mariachi band comes to your table. Along with an outstanding tequila selection...it's one of our favorites!
