I wish the city would make its mind about their name. Sometimes is Tuxpan and some time is Tuxpam. The hotels in Mexico can give themselves whatever number of stars they wish. I haven’t figure out what the formula is. The hotel Reforma is not a 4 star, but it is without question the best we found in Tuxpam. We visited the May, which was supposed to be 5 stars, but it does not even rate a 3 and the Florida, which was just a little better than the May. The Reforma is very clean and compared to the accommodations in the states will rate a 3. There is a WI-FI. The customer computer was not working while we were there. The room was very clean. The restaurant was decent. The well-preserved building is the oldest structure in the city besides the poor cathedral in need of work. It is a shame that this city was developed with out a plan or with such a poor one. There is nothing interesting here, but the location is spectacular if you just ignore this ugly city. They had so much to work with! It is just such a shame. The beaches here have whiter sand than the south of Veracruz. The landscape as the rest of this great state is amazing; too bad the people don’t appreciate it enough to take care of it, and to build with a plan and rules, or to conserve interesting colonial architecture. There is supposed to be a restaurant row along the river. Stay away if you want to keep your health. How can the city promote this sickness waiting to happen is beyond me.
