“Cozy modest hotel in the middle of Taxco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2010

Nice cozy hotel in a perfect location if you want to enjoy Taxco. The central patio is quiet, perfect for laying down in the afternoon.

Most of the rooms are quiet, except for the ones with the windows to the plaza. Just say at the reception you want a quiet one.

The rooms are very cozy, although the matresses we had were a bit hard.

We stayed here 26 years ago and decided to go back for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were so surprised that it was still open and pretty much the same. The hotel and rooms are spotless. Tons of hot water. Bathroom sinks have two faucets but who cares. Views off the back of the hotel are nice and when we opened the double doors to the tiny balcony, we got a great cross wind that kept things cool. The restaurant wasn't working due to May being the slowest month of the year. In fact, I think we were the only people staying there! Only down was that there were mosquitoes at night and the room got stuffy when the wind died down at dusk. Finally cooled off around midnight but they need to provide people with fans and mozzie coils at the least. We asked for and got a mozzie coil but they didn't have any fans. Other than that, we loved Taxco and returning to this hotel.

Spent a weekend here in October. Great location, right in the heart of this beautiful old town, but the hotel is very quiet, clean but basic We didn’t hear anything from the disco mentioned by an earlier traveller !! Staff’s English is about the same as our Spanish but we were able to communicate and we were grateful for their suggestions. Took the cable car up to the Hotel Monte Taxco, great views but confirmed our decision not to stay there as a bit remote. Do take a bus out to Las Grutas – great drive out there and wonderful caves.

This very pleasant “auberge” is well situated in central Taxco .The rooms are not luxurious but quaint and spotlessly ,clean .The staff is very friendly and works hard to satisfy guests.

There are two problems ,neither of which is the hotel’s fault:

1 . A nearby disco probably has powerful political connections because none of the nearby hotels has succeeded in getting them to lower the obnoxiously disturbing volume.

2. The banks in Taxco won’t change U.S. dollars (cash!!) ) into Pesos.

NO kidding ! Unbelievable but true! This forces tourists to go to “Cambio” places with the rates you can imagine. Do your banking into Pesos before coming into Taxco.

Enjoyed a pleasant 4-night stay in the Hotel Santa Prisca. Room was basic but charming, spotless, and equipped with functional plumbing. Central courtyard provided a lovely place to lounge. Breakfasts in the restaurant were good. Hotel is centrally located but blessedly quiet. It seems very well-managed and well-maintained. Staff were all gracious and helpful.

Ideal location within 200 yards of Zocalo. Quaint hotel in a very quaint city. Hotel is old and basic, but well maintained and spotless. Staff are excellent and most speak good English. Great value for money.

This is a beautiful hotel walking distance to the main zocalo in Taxco. This hotel is beautifully decorated in Mexican culture and architecture. Extremely clean and run by a wonderful lady and her family. Very reasonably priced! What a wonderful find in this beautiful old town! Call or e-mail hotel for reservations.
