“Great Option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2009

wonderful option to stay in S.C. It's a bit away from the hustle and bustle but within easy walking distance to downtown. Staff is wonderfull, it's comfy and modern, and their inner courtyard is an island of tranquility for lots of R & R and studying your Spanish verbs and nouns. I highly recommned the place.

We had booked our stay on-line after reading about Villas Casa Morado in the Lonely Planet travel guide. Everything about the stay was great. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The daily maid service was thorough. The room, which they call a studio, was a generous size with a very serviceable kitchen and nice size sitting room, which opened into the garden. The neighborhood was quiet for Mexico. There was a rooster next door, but that never bothered us. It was a pleasant walk to the center of town; we never needed to take taxis. We would stay there again!

Very friendly staff. Reasonably well equiped suite although simple settings. Quiet except for the hen singing from 4 am to 8am, but you get used to it. Location not central (10-15 min from the zocalo)

Very friendly staff. Romantic chimnea. And a spacious room. I would stay again in this place when I return to San Cristobal.

  • Liked — the spacious suite
  • Disliked — mmmmm maybe the price.

We were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel was nice and homey. A small place about a mile from the center of town. The frontdesk was very helpful and they gave us an early check-in without problems.

The juniorsuite was nice. A fully equiped kitchen, living room, bedroom and a nice renewed bathroom. There was even a fireplace in the living room and a nice little balcony facing the cosy garden.

I would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — the fireplace
  • Disliked — the distance to town (though it's hardly worth mentioning)

I have lived in San Cristobal, Mexico for one year and have visited various hotels/inns which housed friends who traveled to the area. One friend stayed at Villas Casa Morada and I was very impressed with this very charming Inn. It's designed in the Mexican motif with state-of-the-art features, including a fireplace. It is a piece of art in itself with every detail well-thought out.

When I found myself in a situation whereby I needed to find housing for a two-week period, I didn't even hesitate where I wanted to stay. And that is when I saw the inner-workings of the hotel. The staff is extremely professional and courteous. The guest is first and foremost in their minds at all times and they do everything possible to make one's stay special. Additionally, one is completed connected to the outside world with WiFi, Cable TV, telephone, and fax. Meals can be ordered upon request from the exquisite Plaza Real Restaurant and a small amply-supplied kitchen is in every unit.

Casa Morada without a doubt offers the finest accommodations in San Cristobal. I give it the highest recommendation. Joyce Ogden
