“Untrustwhorty restaurant...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

I have been in this restaurant twice and I can say that the service has been great with mediocre food....Very expensive considering that is not in the top 10 of the restaurants in Oaxaca and has a bad and dangerous location.
We have a food festival in Oaxaca every year, they were in charge of hosting one of the best chefs in Mexico, I made my reservation way in advance, when I called to confirm, first of all they said that they did not have my name on the list, someone promised to call back to confirm and they never did..I had to call back and the new story was that they sent me an e-mail with the bank information to make a deposit! Very disappointing to hear that they were all booked and never apologized for their mistake. I don´t recommend this restaurant at all.

“Promising, but not all there yet.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Luvina is attempting to bring cutting edge gastronomy to Oaxacan cuisine. The decor, service and menu are all great but there are some flaws in delivery. One of our appetizers, carnitas de pavo, included duck chicharones, a great idea, that were rancid. An entre, grilled rabbit, included one piece that was turned. These dangerous flaws were brought to the attention of the staff but got no comment back or credit for the dishes, which would have been the right thing to do. The osso bucco was tasty but prepared with a larger, older cut of beef that really didn't qualify for the dish. Dorado, on the other hand, was excellent, as was a quail salad and braised beef tongue. This is an ambitious place that needs to get its act together if it is to succeed.

“Unique in Mexico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Highly recommended for that special occasion. By no means a bargain, this place is however very unique with International menu options with a Oaxacan flair. Quail, rabbit, Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and delicious hors d'oeuvres complement the wine and drinks list. We three ate for almost 1000 pesos. Multiple drinks, petite entrée and the entrée with all the time in the world to talk. Waited on attentively but not obtrusively. This is exactly where that special dinner together should be. Hidden away out of the center, but very close by, so search for it. It isn't exactly waving flashing lights but remains subtle, open and quiet. I found it by accident wandering around. All of us were glad I did. Hours 13-23:00. English spoken.
