“Naples brought to Oaxaca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We were invited to dinner by Oaxacan friends who told us that this was supposedly a good “pizzeria”. Our first reaction was OMG! Not another one! We entered the restaurant and began talking to the father and son and any doubts were soon dispelled. Their pasta is homemade and perfectly prepared; their mozzarella is as close to the best Naples has to offer as you can possibly get in Mexico( If only water buffalo could live here). My wife ordered spaghetti alle vongole (really fresh clams and mussels) and I asked the son to make me a Pizza Margherita using the nearby wood fired oven.
The perfect dinner ended with their own Limoncello. The Mexican limes are unique and the liqueur reflected it. A recording by Caruso or Pavarotti in the background would have completed the evening.

“GREAT restaurant, map is wrong, try it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Just a few blocks off the main tourist streets, this restaurant us close, excellent, true Napolitano food. We loved it so much, we asked to thank the chef, and the the chef/owner came out to talk with us. He explained that he sends 5 men up into the hills to search for fresh porcini mushrooms instead of dried, like other restaurants. He explained the difference between Napolitano pizza and others. And how he imports his semolina flour from Italy for the homemade pasta. The son and grandfather are both enthusiastic about the food and rightly proud of the restaurant. Lo ed the food, my pats dish was o e of the MOST flavorful I've ever had,and I'm half Italian. Take a breakneck.(great) traditional dishes and treat yourself to a great meal.
Supervisor map is WAY off, it's steps away from Santo Domingo. Go east on Abasolo across Pino Suarez to Martinez De Tacubaya, turn right. It is on the left a few steps away. #314 (weird, there are two 314's next to each other) .
TERRIFIC MEAL. THE CHEF/owner even treated us to limocello, home made, just like his home made pasta, ricotta, mozarella, and mascarpone (!!!).

“Excellent Pizza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Best pizza I've had anywhere in Mexico...in fact, better than any pizza I had in Naples. Reasonable prices but the tip is added to the bill.

“Best Italian food in Mexico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

Mexita is our first restaurant to visit every time we come to Oaxaca. The food is truly excellent! Enrico makes his own mozzarella and pasta (among others) and they are devine. The pizza is the best in the contry but I love the pasta dishes even more. The dessert is also difficult to compete. And don't forget to ask for homemade limoncello to complete your meal.

“I am an Italian food snob. Trust me; Mexita is #1 for Neapolitan cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Mexita? It is outstanding Neapolitan-Italian cuisine. The ingredients are ultra-fresh and the food is home-made. Best of all, great pride is taken in the production of delicious regional cuisine. Some dishes are scarcely known beyond Campania and Napoli.
The exuberance shared by the father-son team/owners when describing their dishes proves that this is food made with amore. One word describes it, Delizioso!

Just as you wouldn't come to Oaxaca, perhaps Mexico's greatest culinary center, and ask for Tex-Mex "food", don't expect to find Italian-American, Sicilian, Northern Italian, etc. food at Mexita. The food is Neapolitan Italian and it is clearly stated at this restaurant.
Pizza was born in Naples. The outdoor oven screams "Mangia pizza qui!" By all means do so on occasion. The pizza at Mexita rivals the best in Italy.

Bueno, oaxaqueños. Qué suerte tienen. No hay que volar hasta Nápoles a comer la mejor comida napolitana que existe. Está en su ciudad---en Mexita.

So all you turistas, when you need a brief change from fantástic Oaxacan cuisine, treat yourselves to the ultimate culinary delight from sunny Napoli. Go Italian at Mexita. You'll leave there smiling.
