Casa Crespo was recommended by our hotel. All of their other recommendations were spot on, but Casa Crespo was horrible. It was billed as an upscale restaurant, but it was not, although the prices were high. The view from the rooftop is very nice (Santo Domingo), but you have to walk through the kitchen to get there. This was our last meal in Oaxaca and we all had stomach problems after this meal after a week of no stomach problems. Two of us had the tortilla soup which was horrible and tasted of fish. One of us had the chicken with a peanut mole. The mole was good, but the chicken piece was tiny. Another had pork with a mole negro. Again the mole was good, but the pork was not - it was mostly fat and bone. Even the tortillas were bad! They were hard and burnt - how do you screw up a tortilla. The service was horrible - we had to ask for napkins and silverware. The bottled water was hot and tasted funny. It was not a good experience and I would never return. After dinner (we were still hungry), we stopped by a restaurant named Los Danzantes, which had amazing interior design. I wish we would have had our dinner there. They also over charged us (we made them change the bill) and added a huge tip that was built into the bill.
