Nora is a gem, a woman of heart and a wonderful teacher. We were charmed from the outset, and satisfied by the end of our delicious late lunch. First Nora took us through the market to pick up a few last-minute items for our menu (squash blossoms and Hoja Santa leaves). Then we arrived at her home (some walked the few blocks, others opted for a taxi) and found ourselves in a picturesque courtyard, then seated in front of her six-burner teaching stove in the colorful tiled kitchen. Nora demonstrated techniques and led us in preparing six dishes, as she shared vast food knowledge of her native region. A toast with Mezcal, and then we sat down to our meal which included a delicate mole like none of us had ever tasted, sweet tamalitos, a consommé and stuffed squash blossoms with a smoky salsa. Highly recommended!
