We arrived in Oaxaca late afternoon after a long flight from Brazil. The hostel was easily reached from the airport, using the cheap shared van system, charging per person. The check-in was easy and quick, and the people from the reception were friendly and gave us a lot of useful tips and also a map of the town.
We stayed at Casa Angel for three nights, during Dia de Los Muertos, on a private double room, ensuite. The room was basic, but fairly comfortable and very clean. There were no TV or air conditioning, and the room got a little too warm at night, because we could not open the windows, as they open to a corridor and people passed by often. The bathroom, on the other hand, was very nice with good hot showers. At night, there was some noise coming from the terrace, but it was not too bad, and I did have a good night sleep. The wifi worked very well in the room, and they also have a couple of desktop computers available for guests, and it was very useful.
The breakfast was included in the price, and it was good, including eggs, bread, jam, butter and hot coffee or tea.
The hostel is well located, on a walking distance from most of the attractions, close to some nice restaurants, but far away from the noise of the main square.
The price is very fair, about 45USD per night for a double room, especially considering it was on a very busy week, during the Day of the Dead.
Overall, I consider Casa Angel a good and cheap option in Oaxaca, with good value for money, nice location and very friendly ambience.
