“Comes highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

We ate at this restaurant on three occasions whilst spending time in Oaxaca and would happily go back for more!!! Excellent professional and friendly service. Fantastic menu with lots if variety. High pricing for Mexico but ok if converted to GB£. Vegi options, plenty of fish and meat, amazing cocktails, dishes to cater for all tastes, great deserts and great location and architectural structure (just watch out for mosquitoes.....bring repellant !!)

“Beautifully Prepared Food in a Gorgeous Setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

I have consistently had great meals at Los Danzantes - their cheese in hierba santa with tomatillo sauce is wonderful as are the main courses I have tried. I don't eat meat but carnivore companions have loved the dishes they picked. The setting is gorgeous, a must when visiting Oaxaca. Also, they have their own brand of mezcal and wines. You can buy both the wines and the mezcal at their great little store, La Cava. I have been there for romantic dates, business, with big groups of friends, it always leaves people happy! It's pricey for Oaxaca but I would imagine totally reasonable if you come from anywhere else, even Mexico City.

The food was okay, but the selection of Mezcales is fantastic and the setting is wonderful. I have never seen a wall this beautiful - un-describable.

“Great food, a good place to go for a treat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We read the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and had Danzantes down as a place to visit. We actually walked past earlier in the day and had a look at the menu and we liked what we saw. It is expensive by Mexican standards but if you are travelling from the West of the US then it is very good value for money.

We turned up on a Saturday night, a little bit worried that we would struggle to get a table but there was plenty of space and we were seated straight away.

The food was all delicious, modern takes on Mexican classics, presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. There was not a single course that we could criticise. My duck tacos and rib eye were really good and came with some nice accompaniments. My girlfriend had a starter, I cannot remember the actual name but it was something to do with a wedding and was stuffed with meat and was also really good.

The cocktails were tasty as well and there was a great selection.

What really stood out at Danzantes in comparison to other Mexican restaurants was the service. While we were there we found that while the food is normally of a good standard the service is often haphazard and irregular but at Danzantes it is very slick. More similar to what we are accustomed to when dining in high-end London restaurants.

You can definitely eat for less in Oaxaca and there are some other restaurants around that are close in quality of food but for consistency of food and service Danzantes is right up there.

“One of the best in Oaxaca city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We walked by and were enticed by the look of the plaza where the restaurant is located PLaza Casa Vieja).
Rating a restaurant in Oaxaca as excellent (where the culinary culture is one of the best in my country) was though decision.
It was nice to see that others share our impression: great service, good food and unique setting.
Little bit pricey but worthy.
Enjoy!
