“You want real tacos?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Good food, soups, tortas, tacos, but mexican style. It's not tex-mex, so this is different. Simple restaurant, fast service, good prices

“Tacos are the best fast food ever!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

El Farolito has a great tradition in Mexico. It is a must if you have not been there. Pastor tacos are the best!

“El Farolito, wonderful family style restaurant for Mexican food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

I looked it up, and there are 19 franchises of El Farolito in Mexico City. The one that members of my family frequent is TACÁMBARO CONDESA. Since we all live in the La Condesa area, this is where we have been going for the last 30 years. We go there at least once per month.

The restaurant is actually small and rather rustic in appearance. Over the years, they have expanded to adjoining locations. We consider it as the best place for authentic Mexican food. I'm not Mexican, but all my family members are. Young and old really enjoy eating there. The place cannot be considered as "fine dining", except for the food itself.

Their specialty, which they claim to have invented, is the "tacos al pastor". Highly recommended --- bet you can't eat just one. When you browse the menu, you will be amazed as to the variety of Mexican dishes that exist. Also, the fruit juices that they prepare are out of this world.

“Tacos... only in Mexico City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

If ever in Mexico City, and tried hard U shape tostada-like tacos in a TacoBell outside Mexico... well it's time you know the truth: You have never eaten authentic mexican tacos... or good mexican food as well.
Amongst many fine establishments like "Taco Inn", "El Tizoncito", "Los Cochinitos", "El fogonazo", "Los Sifones", etc. I like this one very much because of the esplendid fruit juices and the variety of quality meat chioces, desserts and cleanness. Not the cheapest spread that ranges in the 20-30 dollars with a nice cold mexican Victoria beer (and risk yourself away from common Corona beer with lemon).
The fried cheese called "chicharron" is an original entry.
Carefull with the yellow-orange salsas (very hot) fresh green, chopped tomato or guacamole salasas are the safest (will not make you sweat)
My favorites are the pastor and carnitas (pork) tacos and the steak "alambre", a fajitas-like dish with beef, baccon, chopped onions and big red and green peppers.
You can have the "alambre" with melted cheese or just grilled like fajitas. Hand made tortillas are delicious and tasty.
Whoever claims this are not how tacos are supposed to be, its probably because they know mexican food but ONLY outside Mexico.
This place is a fine experience, with great food and good fast service. Restaurants are in PLaces near touristic Polanco and Condesa, the business Santa Fe and the more residential Pedregal areas.
