“Simply superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We went for a late lunch before leaving the country that evening. It is a classy and elegant restaurant, tastefully decorated, with gorgeous flower arrangements. The service was impeccable. As for the food, it is certainly one of the best meals we've had. The "ceviche" was perfect, with a subtle flavour. The prawn salad was equally fresh and subtle. For our main course, we had lamb in a fruity sauce and grilled octopus, Both were delicious. It was a perfect ending to an amazing trip. Don't miss the market nearby on Saturday morning. The Iglesia de San Jacinto is a gem, as is the Plaza de los Arcángeles, a short distance away.

“A splurge. Breafast with good pastries and hot chocolate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

We visited the latest location in San Angel. Good fresh made pastries and hot-chocolate. An expensive choice for breakfast, when we went there, go early to avoid the wait. Elegant interior, bustles with groups having breakfast. Can not say regarding lunch or dinner, however the service was first-rate. A splurge

“delicious, but pricey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

El Cardenal is rated as one of MXC's top restaurants for a reason: uniformly perfect execution of Mexican classics, not with a twist, but with an air of distinction. That being said, you pay every penny for this delicious treat so save it for a special occasion.
