“"Oh, you don't know the shape I'm in". Be aware and avoid”
First of all, I should say I'm a very easy going one person when reviewing a hotel I stayed in. To be honest, I guess that when we are traveling for leisure, we tend to be more tolerant about minors issues. Afterall, we are supposed to relax and have fun during vacation, right?
To plan travels is one of my favorite hobbies and I always have considered the reviews here on TA to decide which hotel to choose. And it was no different when I booked a 2 night stay in this hotel for the final stage of an amazing 3 week trip. I was aware that the hotel is under renovation works, but it is well ranked on TA and the rates were good.
Unfortunately, this 2 night stay was by far the worst hotel experience that I ever had.
The hotel advertises itself as a 4 star hotel, which is absolutely not true. Maybe when the retrofit that is being held in the hotel is completed and whenever the hotel staff is able to provide guests decent service, it could be rated as a 3 star budget hotel. Unfortunately, based on my terrible experience, I frankly do not think that this will actually happen.
Here is a short list of problems: (i) no water at the time I checked in, making impossible to use the bathroom, for instance (no one at the front desk alerted me about this during check in); (ii) the TV remote control was not in the room (I had to ask front desk to provide me one the morning after); (iii) dirty walls and furniture in bed shape (kind of annoying, since I stayed in one of the remodeled/new rooms); (iv) bathroom door in poor condition; (v) stinky bathroom; (vi) dirty restaurant with nonexistent service; (vii) no soundproof windows, making the room very noisy and virtually impossible to sleep (see, I am not a light sleeper, but the dance music coming from the nearby-or-maybe-not-so-near-night-club was so loud that for moments I felt that I was lying on a bed in the dance floor); (viii) wireless internet not working in our floor (asked front desk 3 – note 3 – times to solve the problem and no response at all was given).
In the evening of the second night, I left a note to the manager where I wrote down all the problems above and none of them was properly addressed. In fact, no answer at all was provided by the hotel staff regarding those matters.
Despite the fact the this review is based on my personal experience during my stay, I feel obliged to share my thoughts, on a hope that such review may help others on the decision making process of booking a room in this hotel.
For me, never, never again!

We appreciate your commitment with the Tripadvisor community by offering a sincere opinion. It is only a shame that we just received you for a couple days; had it been a longer stay and know before about the inconveniences you mention, we would have been happy to properly address your remarks.

About the water, we would like to mention that in the past days and due to a small fix that had to be done, the water was turned off at 12 a.m. Nevertheless, this was fixed after half hour, leaving every room with the proper service at 12:30 a.m. This schedule was selected in order to avoid any inconvenience from happening to our guests; we are sorry to know that it bothered you.
About our rooms, we would like to mention that we are currently working on a corrective maintenance program that we are sure will eliminate the aspects you report. Also, we have just finished placing “Odor Traps” on the bathrooms´ strainers, which we believe has completely solved the odor issue.
Regarding the internet aspects, we are about to implement a major change on the access points all around the hotel. This will help the internet signal and improve the data transference speed so we believe will be a solution for this aspect.
We have knowledge of a nearby night club that is located two blocks away from the hotel but the noise caused by this has never been reported by a guest before. Nevertheless, we have assigned this room to our next Manager on Duty’s weekend revision so he can verify this aspect and work in collaboration with the rest of the team to see the best way to solve it.
Our main concern is our guests´ satisfaction, which is why we always appreciate comments like yours. Thank you.
