“By far the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

This small, local restaurant sets the standard for fine cuisine in the city. The unassuming, simply decorated restaurant is the perfect setting for what have been some of the most memorable meals in Mexico City. A constantly changing, seasonal and locally-supplied menu has never failed on any of my visits. And after having lived here for over 10 years, this is still a personal fave and the top of my list of recommendations for visitors and locals alike!

“Too crowded for now..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Big hype about restaurant, but not as impressed...
Had to wait an hour to be seated. Fresh produce and good quality food, but was expecting more after several comments from foodies... Service was overwhelmed.

“Gastronomic Experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

If what you want is to try something different, go to Maximo Bistrot! The food is amazing, you can go from a delicious risotto to a tuna carpaccio and every time will be a gastronomic surprise because the experience could be like that, the Chef makes 7-10 special plates and you'll try them all, but it will be a surprise, cause you'll not order, the food will appear in your table once you ordered something to drink. It's a really good experience overall. If you are looking for a fancy and modern place, this is not it. They have just around 10 tables, the place is really ordinary, with no fancy decor, but the important thing is the gastronomic experience! Try it!

“Overrated restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

This restaurant unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. We did not mind the location, but much could be done in terms of adding comfort. However, food was the main issue.
Our callo catarino with apple salad was unbalanced with lots of lemon and a strange sauce. Meat was underseasoned and the risotto of the day was a buttery rendition of a rice soup. Athough the place promotes itself as a bistro its courses lack the proper techniques of the French confit. The locally bottled apple pear cyder seemed a rendition of a strongbow. The custard of our creme brulée lacked good texture although the rubbard pie was very good. Service was friendly though and when we returned a dish we received back a good fish main course. All in all, the place is overrated, which shows the low local standards on fine cuisine
