“Fantastic and authentic place to eat with great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

I was taken to Nicos by my Mexican colleagues and they had warned me it might be the best food I have ever eaten in Mexico! They were not mistaken- the food is amazing and the service is very attentive. You would definitely not come here unless recommended as you would not be able to tell from the outside, but it is worth going and trying everything on the menu or asking for the recommendations from the staff. Traditional Mexican flavours and the quality of the food is unbelievable.

“Excellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

I found Nicos to be one of the top restaurants in Mexico City. Reaching it is not easy. From the outside you can not guess that it is one of the bests in town. Mostly frequented by local and known customers, you have to make reservation in order to get in. Try the mezcal collection. Delicious. Also they have a list of Mexican Wines that match the food. Don't be affraid to ask. All of their products are fresh and really Mexican. Sopa de Natas is one of their traditional dishes, but try the season ones.
Not cheap nor expensive, but worth the expense and the visit. Forget about other fancy restaurants in Polanco area where service is poor and expensive. Go for Nicos.

“Part of the Foodie Renaissance in DF”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Agree with the preceeding posts. Located in a somewhat obscure neighborhood, you have to wonder where the mostly well-dressed and well-heeled clients come from in the middle of the day? We were lucky to get a table on a Monday afternoon without a reservation, it was bustling. The room is very simple, but comfortable, and you immediately get the sense the place is most concerned about what is on the plate. One thing we noticed is that the service is very good as noted below, and also works as a team. We had a couple of waiters, and if it looked like we needed something a manager would also stop by. (Note Not sure how much English is spoken there, if any).

I had a green chile soup with rock shrimp that was amazing (the place is serious about the soups and salads, which most people seemed to be ordering). Main dishes were about 150-220 pesos, which was justified by the care and quality of the experience. My wife had a nice duck breast, which is not that commonly served here.

Obviously, despite its location, this place has made its mark as part of the burgeoning foodie scene in Mexico City, at prices that reflect value compared to what you would pay in the the hotspots of Polanco or Roma for similar quality.

“Great taste of Mexico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

One of the best examples of traditional Mexican food. Hidden in a central but not to popular neighborhood lies Nico`s, a small and simple restaurant which hides one of the best selection of traditional recipes in town. Great staff and friendly service guide you to one of the most memorable eating experiences. Great Mezcal and Mexican wine selection to pair with your food. Reservations are a must because it gets packed after 1.30. Try the ¨Sopa de Natas¨, the Moles or the Adobo de antaño. The restaurant tries to keep all of its ingredients locally sourced. Breakfast is also a delicious experience. Closed on Sundays. Try also Nicos little store next door for local products.
