“Great for a stop over”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We spent one night here before Cuba. The room was very small and so was the double bed. Other than that very very central clean and welcoming. The staff at the desk were helpful and there are ATMs in the foyer coffee machine in the room was welcoming first thing in the morning. Doubt I would stay more than two nights due to the size of the room. Don't get a room facing the street as you will be up all night with traffic of cars and people.

I had a brief stay in the Zocalo HI and I was really happy with it.
Pros:
Outstanding location alongside the world's 3rd largest public square
Friendly service
Free Wi-Fi
Free computers with printer in the lobby
Reasonably priced snack bar in the lobby
Comfortable Beds

I really don't have a con other that it takes a little long to get to the hotel from the airport during rush hours.

Some other notes: The taxi to the airport is M$195 and the return is M$165. Both were reliable and fine. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

If it weren't for the incredible view from their restaurant balcony, we would have left after we checked-in and walked into our room. The rooms are the smallest I've been in for years, and the beds being the worst part of that. They are smaller than a double bed, and the mattress was horrible.
We had a lot of luggage, as have been traveling for a month now, and there was no where to put it... Our stuff was everywhere!!

The service staff were relatively friendly, but dissappinting that they didn't offer any suggestions for activities or sightseeing.
Instead we went to the Best Western around the corner and booked our day tours there as they have a tour desk on site.

As mentioned the view from the terrace if this hotel is amazing! It makes it worth putting up with the bed. As we know no Spanish, we are most of our meals there for 3 days, and the food was great... Reasonable prices too,

You won't help yourself from spending most of the time there hanging over the balcony and looking over the Zocalo.

Just finished a 2 night stay. As from prior reviews, the view from the restaurant of the Plaza de la Constitución is not to be missed. Didn't have breakfast, but had lunch and dinner, both okay, and when compared to similar in Australia, very well priced. We found the staff both on the front desk and in the restaurant to be friendly, efficient and very patient with our questions. Location - fantastic.

Very well location, in the center of Mexico !
Staff very friendly and smiling.

But no way to stay there for business, when you need to rest in the evenings or the WEs:
- On the 22th of November, a party happened in the 6th floor in the evening, no way to sleep !
- On the WEs, as the hotel is very near the center, many people shouting, dancing and so on in the streets, so no way to sleep further than 9 a.m. !

Good hotel for tourism, to avoid absolutely if you go there for business !

Room Tip: Do not take the 312: a very small window only ...

Just made a one night stop at this Holiday Inn over the weekend, to meet some friends. No, it's not the Four Seasons and it's not the JW Marriott, but it's a clean and pleasant hotel if you want to be next to the Zocalo in downtown Mexico City. the rooms are a bit small, nothing uncommon in a large city, but well outfitted with nice clean bedding. We did not have much interaction with the staff, but they all seemed friendly and ready to help when asked about something. In summary, we can certainly recommend this hotel especially if you want to be in the historic center. Frankly, we probably wouldn't have stayed here except that the two classic Mexican style hotels on the Zocalo were fully booked, but it worked out fine. i should add that this historic center of Mexico City seems to be extremely safe now, with a very heavy police presence along every single block. i think security in the main tourist and business areas of Mexico City is much improved in the last few years.

When in mexico city Hotel Zocalo is the place to stay not only their rooms are nice and clean but the entire staff is very efficient and friendly. Many of the employees knew some english which is very helpful if you don't know spanish. The restaurant has great food and the view from the terrace is breathtaking.
