“A must visit as well....Worth the time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

The magnificence of the structure and it's interior is well worth the visit. Also , as with most major structures in the Zocalo, the Cathedral , was also built partially on top of Aztec ruins. As such the building has settled in an irregular fashion. The efforts of the experts to keep it from breaking apart is almost as interesting as the structure itself..Very educational from a historical and architectuaral point of view...

“Power statement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Huge, grey, forbidding, and built on top of the ruins of the Templo Mayor nearby which you must visit. Not much to see inside.

“Incredible views from 'Campanario'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is a great thing to do while you're in Centro Historico, go to the cathedral and do the Bell Tower tour. It's only $2dlls and once you're in the roof of the cathedral you get amazing view.

“Beautiful facade. Crowded, dirty surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Mexico City's main square is impressive, especially at night, when it is all lit up. Your best bet is to book dinner at one of the hotel restaurants that overlook the square. However, if you actually want to visit the inside of the historic buildings, including the nearby presidential palace and its murals or the Aztec ruins, you will have to visit during the day, which makes the crowds unavoidable. Expect throngs of people and the stench of street food and sewers. Arrive by taxi and return by subway

“Check its schedule before visiting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

The site is not always open to public. Some website says it opens from 7am to 7pm, but it is not true.
We are in Mexico City during new year's time. The catedral opens at 8am, but inside opens to public after 10am. Sometimes, when there are services, the hall is closed to tourists too. We stayed in Mexico city for five days, lived next to the catedral, and we did not have luck to entre the main hall.
