“Purple Paradise???”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

I needed a hotel located close to the airport and the US Embassy while stranded in Mexico City for 2 days due to passport complications. This establishment worked out very well being 10 minutes from airport and 30-60 minutes to and from embassy depending upon rush hour traffic. The hotel was very modern and clean in appearance in stark contrast to the surrounding neighborhood which was a rather run down appearing section of town. Hotel was very secure and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful, although very little English spoken here. Shuttle from airport was tricky to arrange with front desk staff using my broken Spanish (use 800# to arrange this from airport ). Purple is the color scheme throughout (see pics below). Spacious, clean, comfortable room. Hot water for shower took a while to start but worked fine after. Quiet room on 4th floor. Really friendly shuttle driver. Would stay here again in future.

Room Tip: 4th floor was quiet. Nothing to see outside windows in any direction from any floor. Run down appear...

We stayed here as a stopover, checking in late afternoon leaving early the next morning.

Location - relatively close to the airport, maybe 10 minute drive. Airport transfer was good, we didn't use it the first time as we had no phone to call (our fault). Nothing around the hotel so don't expect to pop out and feel safe/find restaurants in the area.

Room - it was clean. Bed was average, we had a massive hole in our blankets which looked like a cigarette burn perhaps. Noisy! Both street and air conditioner, nothing some ear plugs won't fix.

Bathroom - to get hot water, don't turn cold tap on and leave running for at least 5 minutes before you get anything warm.

Staff - don't speak fabulous English, and didn't do much to help other than take our bags to our room and wait for a tip.

Wifi - again wasn't given this on check in, and it only worked for an hour then we couldn't login again.

Restaurant - best thing about this hotel, within the hotel this is your option for food. We were pleasantly surprised with the man who served us, he was lovely and the food was really nice. You pay for the convenience.

If you have the time, try searching another nearby hotel as I'm sure you can get better for a similar price.

It was pretty easy to tell by walking around on the new laminate floor in our room that there has been a heavy layer of lipstick applied and not proper floor levelling I expect in a year or two it will be very bad. We also had issues with hot water I don't know why they put a cold water tap in the shower as there was no need to reduce the temperature. Not that the hotel provides face clothes anyways. Our room was fairly noisy at all hours of the night from the street below but I assume that is to be expected in semi central mexico city. The price was the cheapest that I felt comfortable booking and they did provide an airport shuttle. We had a good meal at night in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was certainly not the best I had ever had.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the steet sides as there was a back courtyard that was probably much quieter.

We had Pricelined this hotel by here was no one staying here and they refused to give us accommodations for 3 for our price. After paying for extra person we payed more than we would have by booking direct. The manager refused to accommodate us at our Priceline price. The front desk was extremely slow. The internet didn't work. Manager was Adriana Cicero who knew NADA about the word hospitality. One person deserves mentioning for trying to help us: Karla Sosa.

We booked 3 rooms in this hotel in our way from Teotihuacan. The room was ready quickly, rooms were great (very pleasantly surprised), parking available, free wifi. The hotel was a short cab ride to the Zocalo, and it had an airport shuttle. We didn't have to use the subway, so I can't really provide much insight on accessibiity of subway station.

Overall, the room was modern and very clean. Water pressure was great. Towels were good too (I'm picky about my towels :-).

We paid about $80 USD via Hotwire. We felt it was a good deal for being close to the airport.

This hotel have good and cleaned rooms, ok. But service personnel is the worst I have ever seing in my whole life!!! More than badly treated, I felt humiliated by night shift employees. When they realized I was complaining with the manager they simply started to call my room during the dawn!!! Unbelievable, isn't it???

Room Tip: If your room has a view to the avenue, then congratulations: you won't sleep because traffic is...

This place is sandwiched between noisy expressways, one of which is a double-decker, hence the name "Grand Prix".
The mattress was in dire need of a retrofit, as I could feel each coil, and the bed marshmallowed onto itself.
The neighborhood is quite shoddy, as all the other reviewers can attest.
I have Hotwire.com to thank for landing me in this "gem".
