After cancelling our travel plans due to my wife's pregnancy we decided to stay in the city and do something ‘different’; romantic but fun. I wrote a note to the Brick front desk asking for suggestions for my special occasion, in a matter of minutes I had a room booked, dinner reservation at Brasserie La Moderna and a special note for my wife that was agreed to be sent with the Sunday morning room service saying “Breakfast for three”
We checked in at 4 PM on Saturday and everything was ready, we had a PH Loft room with two terraces, ice cold champagne in the mini bar (although I was the only one able to drink) and an amazing setting in the room. All the amenities were from Kiehl’s and the quality of the bed, sheets and pillow selection was superb.
At 9PM we went down to have a drink at the bar before going La Moderna, the lobby bar was full of ambiance: classy but relaxed. A lot of martinis and top notch drinks were served all over.
At 9:30 PM the hostesses from La Moderna look for us at the Lobby bar and took us to our table, the seating was precisely picked. We were seating in a small terrace with a similar view over the pool as in our room. The restaurant got crowded quickly and we also saw some people that were still there from their after-lunch conversation having a drink. I kept having scotch for the rest of the night but the wine selection was neat as well as the food menu, few choices to make your life simpler but all attractive enough.
Around 11:30 the lounge at the pool area was nicely packed but we decided to call it for the day. At our arrival to the room, roses and chocolate truffles were waiting for us. We had a nice sleep although the music from the lounge could be heard.
Around 6:30 AM I woke up watch the Formula 1 race, I went to the top floor of the room, turned on my 42’’ LCD and jumped in to the hot tub without disturbing my wife that was profoundly at sleep at the lower level.
We called room service at around 9:30 AM for our breakfast, the special note I asked for was there… sadly my wife didn’t get it at once and I had to explain that was because she was pregnant the breakfast was for three!
We checked out around afternoon and in our way out we got some take out dessert as from Olivia… we’ve just got infatuated with food but especially with desserts.
