“Great Hotel for Jet Lag, Long Layovers or Early AM flight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2010

I arrived at Mexico City Airport...exhausted, sleep deprived and quite weak. With a 6 hour layover, I needed to rest. Went to the NH lobby, saw their rack rate of 180 USD and immediatley went to the computer in thier lobby. On their website, I found a rate of 99 USD..Booked it and after a quick check in, went to my well appointed, spacious room with two large beds, a huge bathroom and great furniture. I slept in their comfortable beds a good 4.5 hours - fully recharged and still had plenty of time to make my domestic connection in T2 (after taking the train shuttle). I did not have to check in luggage, so you would need more time if you have to check in luggage.....I never did use any of the hotel's other amenities...however, for someone tired at the airport and in need a place to recover from jet lag or with a very long layover or an early am flight, I highly recommend this safe and very comfortable hotel.

$165/night with no internet, no coffee, no bottled water, low quality bedding, no washcloth, 1 bar of soap to share between shower and sink, poor tv reception, slow check in, slow check out and no one answers the phone when you call for assistance. Convenient for T2 travelers, but that's all. For 1/2 the price you could stay at the Ramada and get better services.

Just checked out this morning after 5th trip there. Time after time I have tried to give them another chance, but this hotel is the pits; especially for business travelers.

*ALWAYS an immense line at the front desk both check-in and check-out. due to these immense lines, if you need to call for anything they just won't pick up the phone, or quickly pickup/hangup.

*restaurant is a joke and very slow.

*rooms are clean, except the beds are disgusting. It wasn't until my second trip that I realize they only change the sheets and not the duvet around the comforter. since i noticed this every room i have stayed in has had marks and hairs all over the white duvet - gross.

*staff are rude. they don't care and are S L O W

*their rewards program isn't worth a damn

*they often overbook and even if you prepay a room will downgrade you to another and make you pay the same price without telling you. for that reason the past 4 trips i have made sure to ask 'what type of room is this' before telling them what i reserved.

today was the final straw. the hilton in T1 may be old and in need of a revamp, but at least they have standards and understand the meaning of customer service.

This is a brand new hotel, right at the airport. Yes, the bed and room were comfortable. However...
When I checked in they made me sign my Amex receipt. The next morning, as I was checking out, they presented me with another AMEX receipt. I told them that I already signed one. They said "oh no problema senor, you must sign again on check out" I was already late for an early flight, so I just signed.
Bad Move.
My Amex card got both charges on it, as well as a room charge for some other person. I disputed this with AMEX. They sent AMEX the receipts clearly showing identical charges for the same room number on the same night, as well as the charge for the other person, with a different name, room number etc but charged to MY AMEX card.
They did this all with a smile...cowardly thieves.

After reading many negative reviews for the newly opened (Aug, 2009) NH Hotel in Terminal 2 of the Benito Juarez International Airport (Mexico City), I decided to swim against the current and give it a try. I had previously stayed at the Hilton hotel in Terminal 1 and found it to be noisy, smelly and old, like the other reviews for it I had seen on TripAdvisor. So, I booked my room for the week at the NH Hotel T2 and secured a junior suite for $190 a night (same price as Hilton's normal rooms). The suite consisted of 2 rooms, with beautiful hardwood floors, a living room, a bedroom, 1 full bathroom with shower AND bath and toilet and 1 other bathroom off the living room. In other words, there was PLENTY of space for me and my things. The king bed was very comfortable and the Euro-styling of the rooms is great - very minimalist design. For $190 a night, I found this room to be a great deal. And contrary to the previous reviews I saw on this hotel, the service was VERY good and everyone was extremely attentive to my requests and needs. I think that they have cleaned up their act in this area...

To be balanced in this review - some downsides to mention were:
1) poorly lit gym (it is lit mostly by the natural skylight so if you go before the sun comes up, you can't see what you are doing very well
2) restaurant only offers "Americanized" food - I wanted to have some Mexican food in Mexico and the restaurant was very short on such offerings.
3) They have a mini-fridge in the room with drinks in it (a "mini-bar" of sorts) but it wasn't plugged in! I had to lift the heavy minifridge out of the cabinet, move it across the living room and plug it in! Further, when you take your key out of the Euro-style lighting activator when you leave for the day, the mini-fridge turns off beceause the power to the room is deactivated without the room key stuck in the "slot" by the door.
4) The coffee maker in the room was very plain and there was no sugar or milk to put in the coffee.

I don't need much when I stay in a hotel and so if you are a self sufficient traveler who just wants a stylish, clean, tidy and spacious room to stay in, then I fully recommend this hotel vs. the Hilton. I am not going to compare this hotel to other hotels IN Mexico City, as that is not fair. I am only comparing this hotel to the Hilton in T1 of the airport as that is apples to apples comparison. NH Hotel is the CLEAR winner in this battle.

I frequently travel via Mexico City connecting to other destinations. This time I had a reservation for an early conecting flight the following day so decided to try NH. Have stayed in Camino Real, Hilton T1 and Fiesta Inn so wanted to see the NH. Flew in from Veracruz in the evening. Reception had me marked as a no show to start off. Bellboys eager to assist even though I only had roller carry on and laptop case. did not need help. Check in was a little slow but they seemed friendly with repeat customers that were checking in.

Given my room key and then went on a hike to find the room. Furthest room from reception on 2nd floor. Room new and fresh. Decided to connect to internet only to find irt was extra $200 per day!. Decided I could take a rest from internet for the night.
Went to the bar - very dreary and only 3 other customers. Ate some food which was OK. Drinks highly priced.

Lousy sleep but then I always find it hard to sleep in Mexico City due to the altitude.
On way to check out several room service trays still left outside rooms.

Overall impression, no atmosphere and you pay extra for everything.
Will avoid in the future.

The NH hotel is situated in the Terminal 2 and therefore a good choice, if you need to take an early flight. It seems to be cheaper than other hotels in the area. The service is always professional and I always get help with my suitcases etc. They can remember you, when you come there often, which is really nice being a frequent traveller for business.
