“Hotel del Angel..the fallen angel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

The first night I was woken up at 4am. I was placed in the 2nd floor in a room that faced the street. When I woke up I saw what appeared to be the silhouette of a young lad hiding behind the huge window. That terrible experience changed me emotionally. The next morning I was placed in the third floor in a room next to the elevator. The rest of my week in that hotel was complete hell, and the worse thing was I could not afford to invest more money in another place. I was stocked here. I later realized that I could have stayed for the same amount of money in Zona Rosa a nice community opposite to the area where this hotel is. Do not waste your money here. Touring Mexico was such an enriching experience during the day only to be obscured by the spooky experience in this outdated hotel.

Room Tip: stay away from this hotel

Really horrible food, they treated us with the dinner-leftovers in the morning-buffet - but the staff was really nice though. We were upgraded to the suites for 8 days free of charge, those rooms were nice - the other ones not really good...

Room Tip: Only go for the suites, which are too expensive - so don't go...

Plenty of bars and cafes around the hotel, the staff were helpful with a very friendly porter. Our room was clean if dated with no air con although a portable unit could be requested. WiFi was fast and could be picked up from our room so good for researching maps etc. Buses up to Zocalo (main square) can be caught from the next street (Paseo de la Reforma) also the metro is a 10 minute walk away but felt unsafe after dark. On Sundays the traffic is closed off down La Reforma making a pleasant walk down to the Museum.

This hotel is reasonably priced and the room was clean and comfortable except that it was very warm inside. The hotel gave us (for no extra charge) a big clunky air conditioning unit which did the job but made a lot of noise and so wasn't so suitable for leaving on at night while we slept. The room we had faced the main road, so quite a bit of noise from traffic. Staff were helpful and let us stay an extra hour after check-out. Location is good, there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Breakfast not included in room price, which seems unusual here and a bit mean. Free Internet worked fine.
