Obelisk Residential is located next to Lincoln Park in the Polanco area of Mexico City. You are in the heart of the restaurant, and upscale shopping and a half block from Reforma Ave. which takes you by bus to the zona rosa, museums, and the business district as well as the historic center. The suites are spacious, have a small but useable kitchen, and come in one or two bedrooms or a mini-suite. Priced at about $125 per night quite a bargain, but here are some tips you will need to maximize a comfortable stay. First-make sure you get a room in the back of the hotel as the rooms facing the busy Jules Verno ave. are noisy until well past 10 pm. Also, this area of Polanco is right over the flight plan for the airport so avoid the top floor as the airplane noise will be annoying. They provide an adequate continental breakfast but nothing spectacular. I would walk down to one of the many bakeries blocks from the hotel and pick up some great pastries, and there is also a supermarket and fruit stands a few blocks away. On Saturdays Lincoln Park has a farmers market and general market where you can pick up fantastic produce. I also would occasionally pick up a cooked chicken from one of the two chicken stands a couple of blocks away and made that my dinner. All in all hard to beat the location for dinning with literally a hundred restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: back rooms which are not on the top floor

If you get a rate in any currency other than Mexican Peso, ask them to give you a rate in Pesos. At payment time, they only accept Pesos (including cash and creditcards) and they themselves decide what the exchange rate is, and (guess what) their rate is such that they make an extra 5-10% off of you.

Also, the safe in the room has a lock and actual metal key, and if you lose it, they charge you "100 dollars" (see above paragraph). In this day and age, how hard is it realy to install safes with electronic keypads???

And the building is very loud.

In a lovely street, close to shops and restaurants. Our suite was spacious and clean. The breakfast room was lovely and breakfasts were adequate - the best fresh fruit. The bathroom was quite small - interesting sliding doors. The staff were very friendly but couldn't tell us where the closest mail box was. A pleasant stay non the less.

they book the rooms as junior suites and when you get there they say that they have "junior room", which must be a new category, and however it is just a regular room, with a very small bathroom, no air conditioning, very noisy, lousy internet signal and a poor breakfast.

Room Tip: just don't go

The location of Obelisk Suites is fantastic, in the middle of beautiful Polanco and walking distance from several business centers and great restaurants and shopping. The hotel looks like an old traditional Mexican house (which I’m pretty sure it was). However, the staff is just fair, the rooms have no air conditioning and are extremely noise – you can hear all the noises guests make passing through the corridors. All in all it is not a bad hotel, because the value for money is really good.
