It was my first time in Mexico city and I wanted to stay somewhere just near the train station. Good thing Hotel Plaza Florencia is just walking distance to the Insurgentes metro train and bus stations. It is also a nice starting point for tours, most of my tours from viator.com would pick up at this hotel so it's a plus.
I was there around Día de la Independencía or México's independence day and there were a lot of road closures going on. Good thing the location is nicely placed near the Plaza de Reforma so I was able to see the marching of Mexican Armed Forces during the independence day festivities which passes through the Angel de la Independencía to Centro Historico.
The hotel itself is pretty decent. A bit old but for the price I think it is already too generous. The staff are friendly, can speak good English and willing to help you and whatever way you can. It's also really close to the night life. Although Zona Rosa is a gay district it is also close to Condesa and Roma which are good nightlife and party spots.
Overall I enjoyed my stay in Plaza Florencia and I don't mind staying there again whenever I'm in Mexico city.
