“In the heart of Mexico City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

This is a great hotel located in the heart of the city, next to the US Embassy. The angel sits in front of the hotel, and the double-decker tour buses stop across the street. The museum and Castillo are about a mile down Reform. Both are must sees during a trip to D.F.

The bar located downstairs has mariachis but is only free for guests of the hotel. A stop in is recommended. There are lots of restaurants located within walking distance. A warning should be given to those who go to the nearby Zona Rosa area--the crime is high, the places will likely rip you off, and according to the locals some clubs are known to slip drugs into drinks.

As with all of Mexico City, take only hotel and citio taxis. Mexico City is the kidnaping capital of the world and it frequently involves taxis.

I have been "living at" the Sheraton for 7 months now, with a brief trip home to the States every month. This has truly been my "home away from home--my second home." From the very first email that I sent to the hotel last year asking about the climate, the hotel, etc., it has been a wonderful experience. The staff can't do enough for you. From the "Welcome home, Miss X" to having my room prepared for me prior to arrival (swapping out extra hangers, extra water...) The hotel is in the middle of a major renovation; the lobby has been modernized, and the guest rooms are spectacular!! Open, airy rooms, walk-in closet, new mattresses (and the prior ones didn't need to be replaced--they are the best!) But the renovation has not slowed down their strive for excellence, nor greatly impacted the guest experience. They have truly taken all measures to minimize the disruption. I am here again for almost a month, and look forward to it. Thank you for always making my time in Mexico City so memorable.

Room Tip: Room choice depends if you want to see the city or the quiet street. Staying under "the big re...

Spent 2 nights here on a business trip. Had never been to Mexico before and didn't know what to expect. But I certainly did not expect such a nice area with pretty architecture, upscale hotels and restaurants, and a large shopping mall. And the Sheraton was a great place to stay. Very upscale hotel with large and immaculate suites. Bed was very comfortable with good pillows- mattress was not too hard or too soft. The shower was excellent- very hot water with high water pressure and good drain. Service was very gracious, particularly at breakfast. And the breakfast buffet had a good selection with well-prepared food. I only wish I had had more time to explore the rest of the hotel.

I loved this area of the city. Very safe with armed guards patrolling the vicinity. Relative to the rest of Mexico City this area is very spacious and spread out. I greatly enjoyed the surrounding area as you didn't feel like you were amongst a sea of people. Very nice specialty restaurants nearby. The rooms were decent and the building/facilities are up-to-date. Great location but regardless of where you are you can't seem to escape cigarette smoke.

I stayed here when I was in Mexico City for work. The area is relatively safe with a few restaurants within walking distance but, since it's in the financial district, there isn't too much going on once the work day is over. The hotel itself is nice and clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are big with separate sleeping and living areas and there is a very nice assortment of toiletries in the bathroom. There is a gym with a decent number of cardio and weight machines. The breakfast buffet is pretty good with a nice selection of fresh fruit, juices, pastries and an omelet station. I also appreciated the fact that they incorporated healthy eating options into their menu since its rather tricky to eat healthy while traveling. Overall, good hotel with a great staff. Would definitely stay here again

This is a nice business travel hotel. Stayed for 2 weeks. The concierge and reception desk staffs are very friendly, always ready to help, and English speaking. :) The room is big enough to accommodate 2 people, but the interior looks a little bit old fasion. The breakfast service is good, SPG call it "Color your plate" which I liked very much. There are various kind of choice on friuts, yoghourt etc. The hotel locates in the Santa Fe area, relatively safe place, surrounded by big companies. However, if you come to Mexico City for city tour, this location is isolated from downtown. BTW, they don't have swimming pool but a small gym.

Room Tip: Higher Floor.
