“The Most Exceptional Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

The Museum itself is totally exceptional. I could have spent at least three days here. The design, lay out and content rival the top museums of the world. What a pity that the shop is so ordinary and full of a jumble of the lowest grade of tourist souvenirs. Even the books there are not what a discerning, arts leaning visitor would appreciate, and there were not even any English books on the Museum itself which I had to look for and found elsewhere in Mexico City.
The restaurant too I found to be not up to the same high standards of the Museum both in the menu, and the very boring decor. I did find the staff to be efficient and helpful however.

I rate this one of the best museums on the planet. World-class by all standards. If you are in Mexico City, this is simply a MUST on your itinerary.

“Simply Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

This is a world class museum. It's collection of Toltec, Olmec, Zapatec, Aztec and Mayan artifacts is simply incredible. The galleries are laid out by civilization with maps, models and explanations from a variety of persepectives. The main floor covers the pre-Columbian civilizations of Mexico while the second floor has cultural displays for each region of Mexico. You need at least two days to go through this museum. Cost is about 55 pesos (less than $5) and it is closed on Mondays. You can't come to Mexico City and not visit this museum!
