“For Decorative Arts Lovers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is a lovely decorative arts museum located on the other side of Bellas Artes from the Zocalo. It has a wonderful collection of furniture, paintings, silver and ceramics.

“What a surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

I had gone expecting a modest little collection and was stunned by both the variety of exhibits and the sheer quantity. There were items from south east Asia, Europe, England and Latin America. And a bonus - a temporary exhibition of radios (I'm talking domestic models) from the 1920s to the 1950s. It was fantastic.
Another thing - in this part of the city I struggled to find anywhere to have lunch - in the courtyard of the museum is a super little cafeteria selling decent, modestly priced snacks and light meals, and the seating is in the cool courtyard which has the advantage of being peaceful.

“Great eclectic collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

Spent about 2 hours here before lunch one day. It is a marvelous collection of furniture, pottery, silver, paintings, tapestries, etc from Franz Mayer's personal collection. The venue is wonderful. It is part of a property that was used as a hospital for about 400 years. The entry fee is less than 4 USD. The grounds are very historic and it is a block from Palacio de Bellas Artes in Centro Historico. Loved it.

“An excellent museum to visit in Mexico City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

This was a private collection of all types of art that has been turned into a museum. The building and grounds are impressive. The artwork is quite varied, but there are some beautiful pieces there. It is a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so. There are two entrances. Enter on Hidalgo, not on the back street through the garage.
