“Pleasantly Surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

My first time to Mexico City for a business trip. I didn't know what to expect and was quite pleased with the hotel and their services.
At arrival in the Airport I managed to find the Taxi stand where you pay in advance for your fare. The cost was approx. $17 US and the ride took around 30 minutes. Always seems to be lots of traffic all the time, along with police presence everywhere. Blue light flashing all the time.
Once at the hotel the check-in was efficient and quick. My room was on the 8th floor with king size bed. Very clean with 2 fresh bottles of water per day and coffee and tea. The internet worked great and was complimentary.
There was a total of 7 of us travelling in from Germany, the US, Canada and Mexico, we all met up the first night for dinner in the Ristorante Amici. I had the Tuna and enjoyed every morsel. I also ate here my last night and had the lamb - delicious. They have a nice outside terrace you can enjoy outside this restaurant. In the mornings this would be the same location we would meet up for breakfast. Complimentary full buffet breakfast with a full selection of hot and cold along with a person to cook you eggs just the way you like them. The service was excellent.
One evening we arranged through the concierge to obtain a drive and van for 6 of us to go silver shopping. Our driver also took us to the Basilica of Guadalupe and gave us a guided tour. From there we went to the local Wal-Mart to get our vanilla supply to bring home :)
Back to the hotel to close the bill for the driver and then he dropped us off not far away from the hotel at an Argentina Steak House. My last day I worked until noon and then decided to enjoy the pool facilities on the 20th floor. Oh La La!! The chairs were very comfortable and the pool was even heated and as you can see in the pictures, kept pristine clean. For a hotel like this back in Montreal the price would have been considerably higher.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to return to this same hotel in the future.

Room Tip: If you want to be nearer the pool ask for a room in the same tower.

We just returned from another good stay at the Sheraton Maria Isabel.

PROS:
*Located right beside the US Embassy
*Located across the street from popular restaurants and bars (gay and straight)
*Not far from the Zocalo, and the nice Condesa and Roma neighborhoods
*Excellent mattress and water pressure
*Excellent and friendly service
*Health club with wet and dry saunas
*Hotel has its own fleet of taxis, and there's a regular (less expensive) taxi stand behind the building near the Embassy which operates during the day
*Convenience stores right behind the building near the Embassy, and across the street
*Starbucks in the hotel, and the similar (and better) local Cielito coffee chain a block away

CONS:
*The "Manhattan Deli" attached to the hotel, beside the Starbucks. Expensive and not good.

Friendly staff and upscale restaurants and lounges. This property is older, but has been updated and a nice stay. My room is on one of the upper floors, takes quite a bit of time for the shower to warm up, and the AC/heat is noisy with marginal performance. Otherwise the room is clean and comfortable. My view includes the "Angel de Libertad" statue, beautiful, but on weekends the site of noisy (otherwise good) bands, gatherings with loudspeakers, other times protests, so don't plan to sleep in much. The Manhattan Deli serves delicious, though only warm, food. There is an excellent fitness facility, but make sure you have the right footwear - one of the staff was rather surly about my Keen hiking sandals and denied me access. Walking through the lobby you are greeted with warm smiles and "Buenos Dias" from the staff. There is ample shopping and good restaurants in easy (and safe) walking distance.

Room Tip: Lower floors are less expensive.

Nice location , huge hotel with more than 700 rooms. Staff is very nice and always ready to help especially the ladies at reception who were so helpful and gave us some useful infos about the city. Rooms are large and quiet and very clean. Breakfast buffet is nice , there s also a Starbucks coffee in the hotel as well as different shops and a convenience store open till 11pm. The only remarks is about room service : it took almost 50 mans to get food delivered but I must say the quality was good.

Room Tip: 199 pesos for 24 hours with 3 devices included

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

I ordered the "Mexican" breakfast this was a continental breakfast plus, two scrambled eggs with tomato, onion, Serrano peppers, cilantro and served with refried beans and corn tortillas.

Pastries were small and ok, nothing special, however the eggs were tasteless couldn't even taste the cilantro and it was just warm in temperature, the refried beans were almost cold.

Coffee was just coffee, if that says anything, I preferred my Starbucks coffee in the lobby yesterday, that's saying something as I'm not a big Starbucks fan.

Overall disappointed with breakfast this morning. Tasteless, just warm in temperature?

The room service gentleman was pleasant, in fact all the staff are nice, polite and make an effort.

The bed of course is a Sheraton bed, the best!!! Comfortable and had two great nights sleep. Rooms are a bit old fashioned but clean and tidy. Bathroom usual toiletries and a bit dated.

I would recommend to stay here but be selective about what and where I eat.

Hotel is at a good location but the place is run down.
Place needs an update on the rooms. We had a room on 7th floor facing the Paseo. I believe they start the work this year. Ground floor section and the bar still looks nice.

This place would get a better score if it provided free internet access. What kind of business hotel does not have this? It is about $10 a day for internet. Location wise, it is right next door to the US Embassy, a lot of shopping and places to eat. The Hotel has a Starbucks attached which is nice and the staff is super friendly. This is a business hotel so expect a busy lobby area. The area around the hotel is very busy which is great for people watching. I have stayed here twice and will again because the location is good. The A/C's in each room are awesome in my option. They cool really well but most importantly they have different fan settings that can be adjusted for the level of noise you prefer when sleeping. I like lots of noise so the high setting will run all night and drown out any other sounds allowing for a great sleep.
