“One of the most beautiful squares in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

The center of Mexico, the center of the Aztec Empire, the zocalo square is surrounded by incredible historical buildings and monuments including the National Palace, the Cathedral, the ruins of the Aztec Temple( Templo Mayor). Go to any of the hotels that are located in the square and go the restaurant on the top to have an amaizing views of the square. In winter the goverment put an ice skating space.

“beautiful zocalo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

such a great place with very historical buildings! there are some nice cute restaurants, the church and tons of museums close! its great to park your car and walk around but if your going to be more than a couple of hours take a taxi because parking with cost you! also do some research before about events going on in the zocalo, theres usually something, and army expo, the ice rink, etc. i visit zocalo at least once a month, one of my favorites!

“Nice views from the bar above the plaza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

If you can get yourself to the hotel in the far right-hand corner (facing into the plaza from the front of the cathedral) of the Zocalo, and head up to the top floor bar, you will have stunning views of the square. The margaritas are massive up there. The mango margarita is unsurpassed. Get there in the evening and enjoy watching the lights slowly change the surrounding buildings. Very beautiful. Or… just walk around the square itself for a cheaper view. There is a big screen broadcasting the World Cup (while it lasts) on the cathedral end of the plaza. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been there. Lots of restaurants, etc., in the area. But most things close down not long after sunset and the area gets a sketchy feel to it. Be very aware of your surroundings after dark. Or… take a taxi back to your hotel and all will be cool.

Religion-Government-Culure-Architecture-Art-Horticulture all in one relatively small area. A stroll from the Zocalo to the Angel of Independence.
